TMS treatment for OCD - third course

Smart TMS London provides Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as a treatment choice for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). This procedure does not involve surgery or medication, but rather utilises magnetic waves to specifically target the regions of the brain responsible for obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviours. The objective is to disrupt the cycle associated with OCD.

How does Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) work for treating OCD?

Roughly 40% of people diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) don't achieve favourable results from conventional treatments such as psychotherapy and antidepressant medication.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) presents a novel method for addressing OCD. This therapeutic approach avoids the need for surgery or medication and instead employs magnetic waves to target the specific brain areas associated with obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviours.

What should I expect from the TMS treatment?

Typically, the TMS treatment offered at Smart TMS London requires approximately 30 sessions, divided into three sets of ten sessions each.

The third course corresponds to the third set of 10 sessions.

Each session is expected to last around 30 minutes, and the sessions are scheduled over a span of three to six weeks, occasionally with the possibility of having multiple sessions in a single day.

After each TMS session, you will have a consultation with one of the clinicians at the Smart TMS clinic.

How effective is TMS treatment for OCD?

According to research, it has been determined that 6 out of 10 people with treatment-resistant OCD who undergo TMS treatment at Smart TMS will observe improvements, resulting in a decrease in symptoms.

Furthermore, 3 out of 10 people may experience remission.

TMS provides advantages over medication by having fewer side effects. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge that treatment outcomes can differ among people based on their individual experiences with the condition.

How much does the third TMS treatment course cost?

The third course of TMS treatment for OCD at Smart TMS London costs £3000.

All patients are required to have an initial assessment with one one of the consultants at Smart TMS before commencing with the TMS treatment. An initial assessment costs £350.

Please note that treatment cannot commence until forms and an assessment have been completed with a clinician to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
