TMS treatment for PTSD - first course

Smart TMS London offers a treatment option for people suffering from PTSD. Using the advanced and non-invasive technique of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), this treatment targets specific brain regions affected by PTSD, helping you to feel happier and more contended.

What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) refers to a cluster of symptoms that emerge following exposure to a traumatic or catastrophic event. Individuals with PTSD struggle to overcome distressing experiences, which significantly disrupts their daily lives and makes it challenging to maintain a sense of normalcy.

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder, known as CPTSD, arises when traumatic experiences occur during early life, over a prolonged duration, or with a lack of opportunities for escape or rescue.

How does TMS work in the treatment of PTSD?

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive approach that utilises repetitive magnetic pulses to soothe the specific brain region responsible for regulating emotional responses and mood.

When treating PTSD with Smart TMS, comprehensive consideration is given to any associated factors that may contribute to or arise from the condition, such as phobias and depression.

A course of TMS treatment for PTSD entails approximately 30 sessions, divided into sets of 15 sessions, conducted over a span of three to six weeks, followed by an assessment by a clinician after the first course.

Each treatment session lasts for 30 minutes, and in certain cases, multiple sessions per day may be possible.

This non-invasive treatment, requiring no anesthesia, medication, hospitalisation, or recovery time, uses repetitive magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain areas linked to post-traumatic stress disorder.

oreover, this treatment is also effective for addressing complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

How effective is TMS treatment for PTSD?

Out of every ten individuals with PTSD, nine will experience beneficial effects from TMS Treatment, and five out of ten individuals will achieve remission, which is a reduction or absence of symptoms.

How much does the first course of TMS treatment for PTSD cost?

The first course of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at Smart TMS London costs £4500.

Before starting the TMS treatment, all patients must undergo an initial assessment conducted by one of the consultants at Smart TMS. The cost for this assessment is £350.
