Professional statement

Mr Luke Forster is a consultant urological surgeon in Berkshire and Wexham, who specialises in kidney stones, benign prostate enlargement and bladder problems, alongside haematurialaser lithotripsy and prostate. He privately practises at Parkside Private Suites at Wexham and Heatherwood, while his NHS base is the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Here, he serves as the clinical lead at Wexham Park Hospital and the cross-site deputy lead for Urology.

After qualifying with distinction from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School at King's College London in 2010, Mr Forster also earned a first-class honours degree in Health Psychology. He completed an elective placement at the Mayo Clinic, USA, where he contributed to one of the first studies on Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in surgical patients. His postgraduate training saw him specialise in urology across Yorkshire and London, completing his FRCS Urology in 2019. He went on to work in the tertiary stone units at Royal Free Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, focusing on improving the care of patients with kidney stones and obstructed kidneys.

Mr Forster holds an MSc in Medical Education and is the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Frimley Health. In 2023, he was recognised for his excellence in teaching with the Best Undergraduate Teacher Award. His dedication to improving patient care extends to his leadership roles, where he has spearheaded service improvements, introducing the latest technologies and techniques to enhance patient outcomes, particularly in the management of kidney stones, urine symptoms and testicular pain.

Mr Forster's contributions to the field of urology and his leadership in service improvement have earned him Clinical Excellence Awards in both 2023 and 2024. As a former Chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Trainees (2018-2020), he has played a pivotal role in shaping national training standards and led fundraising and educational initiatives with The Urology Foundation.

In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Mr Forster remains committed to patient safety and improving the patient experience. He works collaboratively with radiology, anaesthetics and other medical specialties to ensure comprehensive and safe care for his patients, often providing second opinions for complex cases. He is particularly passionate about ensuring that older patients with urine problems are treated with dignity and receive appropriate care.
