Mr Rahul Kakar is an esteemed consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, with over 25 years of experience, based in Glasgow and Stirling. He focuses principally on hip and knee replacements and arthroplasty, soft tissue knee reconstruction, and trauma.
Mr Kakar undertook his medical studies at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, graduating in 1996. He has served as a consultant in the NHS since 2017. His initial training took place in and around Glasgow, followed by a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty, trauma, soft tissue knee reconstruction, and knee revision surgery.
After completing his fellowship, he returned to Glasgow to work as a locum consultant at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Wishaw General Hospital before joining Ninewells University Hospital in Dundee. His practice focuses on hip and knee replacement surgery, soft tissue knee reconstruction, and general orthopaedics.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors, senior orthopaedics registrars, and post-doctoral overseas orthopaedic surgeons. Additionally, he has published research in national and international indexed journals.
