Ms Wendy Smith is a highly respected consultant ENT surgeon known for her expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide array of ENT conditions. With over 25 years of experience in the field, she has built a reputation for her meticulous surgical skills and compassionate patient care.

After studying BPharm at the University of Bath, Ms Smith completed her degree in medicine at King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1995. She completed her specialist ENT training in renowned medical institutions.

Her background encompasses both paediatric and adult ENT, allowing her to offer comprehensive services to a diverse patient demographic. Ms Smith specialises in
several ENT areas, including complex ear surgery, nasal and sinus surgery.

Her practice includes advanced procedures such as endoscopic sinus surgery and minimally invasive treatments for perforated ear drums, and middle ear disease including cholesteatoma which provide her patients with effective results and faster recovery times. She is also skilled in managing conditions like tinnitushearing loss, and vertigo, often working closely with audiologists to offer a multidisciplinary approach.  Her research interests include the causes of chronic cough.

She has published numerous papers on innovative techniques in ENT surgery and regularly presents at national and international conferences. She is passionate about education and has been the ENT UK Director of Education, trains resident doctors, and has chaired the MRCS ENT examination and is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons within the UK and abroad. Ms Smith has been on the council of various professional bodies, including the British Association of Otology, the otology section of the Royal Society of Medicine and is a member of British Rhinological Society and the Hunterian Society. Ms Smith remains at the forefront of ENT advancements and continuously seeks ways to improve patient outcomes with the latest evidence-based practices. Her dedication to both her patients and the field makes her a highly sought-after consultant in ENT surgery.

Ms Smith, who was awarded the title honorary senior lecturer at Leicester Medical School in April 2019, has a host of other awards won, including being awarded the Gold Medal by the Royal Society of Medicine section of Laryngology and Otology in the intercollegiate FRCS (ORL-HNS) examination in 2004 and was designated a  Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2023.
