Mr Christos Kontovounisios is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at the
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, practising privately at The Chelsea Wing, in London. With over 15 years of experience, he is an expert in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders, colon cancer, and rectal cancer. He is highly skilled in robotic, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive surgery.
In 2004, Mr Kontovounisios graduated from the University of Pécs, Hungary, with a doctorate in medicine. In 2015, he earned his PhD from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016 and the American College of Surgeons in 2017.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Kontovounisios is a clinical senior lecturer in colorectal surgery at the Imperial College London. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and actively studies the use of 3D imaging or simulation and printing in all aspects of his work, from teaching to helping patients understand the procedures better. He holds various memberships to renowned bodies, such as the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES).
