Biotin is good for hair?
Description:
Good levels of known vitamins and minerals are needed to help support the health and growth of the hair follicle. Such vitamins and minerals include iron, vitamin C, zinc, vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D. There is pretty solid scientific and clinical evidence behind this list. It is also important how this combination of vitamins is taken and why a ‘hair multivitamins’ single daily tablet concept is flawed. No hair dermatologist would recommend this to their hair loss patients. Iron and zinc are probably the most vital nutrients for hair and when taken together they don’t get absorbed. They must be taken at separate times if adequate absorption is to be achieved. This is why in my hair vitamins I have separate daily morning and evening doses. Many beauty brands market biotin as an important hair growth ingredient, which is quite misleading. Firstly there is no solid and direct evidence that ingesting biotin results in healthier hair. This excludes studies sponsored by companies that sell biotin supplements for hair! Secondly taking biotin can cause hair shedding and it interferes with biochemical assays in blood tests. Missed heart attacks and subsequent deaths have been reported in people taking biotin supplementation for hair! Do reach out if you are in need of true expert advice for your hair thinning or loss.
