Mr Richard Cove is a highly regarded consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee, foot, and ankle surgery. His expertise includes arthroscopic procedures, knee replacement surgeries, and treatments for foot and ankle pain and deformities.
He completed his orthopaedic training in the South-West Region, followed by advanced fellowships in foot and ankle surgery in Ireland and knee surgery in Bristol. His commitment to research led to the award of a Master of Science degree for his work on early arthritis of the knee. Since his appointment to the Orthopaedic Department at North Devon District Hospital in 2012, Mr. Cove has played a pivotal role in enhancing services.
He introduced day-case surgeries for knee, foot, and ankle procedures, as well as arthroscopic techniques, including ankle fusions. As clinical lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics from 2017 to 2022, he contributed to the department’s achievements in productivity, safety, and patient outcomes. Dedicated to the advancement of medical education, Mr. Cove is actively involved in training junior doctors and orthopaedic surgical trainees.
