Dr Claire Sharpe is a renowned specialist in Nephrology with an extensive career in medicine, education, and research. Her expertise includes managing complex kidney conditions such as chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and diabetic kidney disease, among others.
She graduated in Medicine from University College London in 1991 and pursued her specialisation in kidney medicine at King’s College London, completing a PhD supported by a Kidney Research UK Clinical Training Fellowship. Her dedication to advancing the field was recognised with a National Institute for Health Research Clinician Scientist Award in 2002. She became a practising consultant in 2004 and was promoted to professor in 2019.
Currently, Dr Sharpe is the Dean of Education at the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, and an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at King’s College Hospital, London. She combines clinical practice with academic responsibilities, devoting her time to teaching, patient care, and research.
