Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Fulham Road in ChelseaChelsea and Westminster Hospital is located in Chelsea, London. It is operated by the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and has close links with the Imperial College London. The hospital plays an integral role in teaching students at the Imperial College. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, nicknamed Chelwest, is recognised as one of the leading hospitals in the country as it has the lowest operative mortality rates and one of the best performing A&E departments.
Westminster Hospital was originally in a different location but in 1994 closed its doors and moved its resources to the new Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, at the old St Stephen’s Hospital site in Fulham Road.
Maternity and obstetrics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital provides one of the largest maternity services in London, where around 12,000 births are managed each year. Women are supported throughout both pregnancy and labour, 24 hours a day, every day of the week at the hospital. In January 2014 a midwife led birth centre was opened alongside the hospital’s other maternity facilities. The centre promotes natural birth and resembles a spa-like facility with rooms that include birthing pools and mood lighting that can be controlled by mums during birth.

Public transport makes Chelsea and Westminster Hospital easily accessible. It is only a 15 minute walk from both Imperial Wharf and West Brompton train stations. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s nearest tubes are:

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital parking
There is an underground car park in the hospital which is accessed via Nightingale Place, although parking spaces are limited. There is a ticket barrier on arrival at the entrance to the car park. Drivers are to take a ticket when parking and pay for the ticket before returning to the car park when leaving the hospital. There are machines located on the ground floor of the hospital by the main reception, which accept cash or card. The main reception also accepts cash payments.
There is a minimum charge of £3 for up to one hour, which applies daily from 8am-6pm. This charge is reduced to £2 an hour from 6pm-8am. There is a maximum stay of 24 hours for £40.
