This new treatment for protruding ears involves the application of a small implant behind the ear. It is a simple, quick and effective technique, especially useful in children and adolescents.
What is the Earfold® technique?
The implant is made of a biocompatible 24-carat gold-plated nitinol metal alloy, which is invisible under the skin of the ear.
The Earfold® technique does not require anaesthesia or surgery. It is done directly in the consultation room, lasts for about 1 hour, and the patient leaves without bandaging or scars.
Differences between the Earfold® technique and Otoplasty
The Earfold® technique is painless and without the discomfort or unpredictability of a traditional otoplasty.
Unlike an otoplasty, the Earfold® technique is done quickly, so it does not affect the patient's routine. In addition, the patient has control over the final appearance.
Thus, Earfold®'s results are predictable, permanent, and reversible.
Simulation of the Earfold® technique
During the simulation, the patient can discuss with the surgeon the exact adjustment of the ears according to their preferences (more or less adjusted to the head), and the doctor can experiment with the insertion of one or several implants.
