The clinic treats a wide range of mental health conditions and addictions such as depression (including clinical, teenage and post-natal depression), anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The members of staff are devoted to delivering a world-class standard of service, helping patients to deal with their conditions in a safe space and working with them to help them to improve their quality of life. How does Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) work in the treatment of addictions?
The aim of TMS in addiction treatment is to reset the brain's chemical levels and modulate neural activity in these craving-related regions. By doing so, TMS seeks to reduce the intensity of cravings experienced by individuals with addictions.
What should I expect during my TMS session?
The course of TMS for addiction consists of 15 sessions.
After completing these sessions, patients will undergo a review with a clinician to assess the need for additional treatment in order to further alleviate cravings.
How effective is TMS treatment for addiction?
The majority of patients score their cravings as 0/10 following treatment.
How much does TMS treatment for addictions cost?
All patients are required to have an initial assessment with one of the consultants at Smart TMS before commencing with the TMS treatment. An initial assessment costs £350.
