Professor Alister Hart is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in the full spectrum of hip problems and procedures, including hip replacement surgery, hip revision surgery, arthritis of the hip, and robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. His private practice is located at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital.
Professor Hart studied medicine at Cambridge University, and completed his medical training at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was appointed Chair of Orthopaedics for Action Medical Research at University College London Hospital Foundation Trust, and is the director and co-founder of the London Implant Retrieval Centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, a research group in orthopaedic implants in collaboration with the hospital, the London Implant Retrieval Centre, The Running for Science project, and UCL.
Professor Hart leads a research team of surgical technologists, based at RNOH which focuses on Implant Science and Surgical Imaging Technology. The department includes the London Implant Retrieval Centre (LIRC), the RNOH/UCLH BRC collaboration and the Running for Science (RFS) project.
