Mr Andreas Prachalias

Mr Andreas Prachalias is a leading consultant liver and pancreatic surgeon based in London, specialising in liver transplant procedures, liver surgery and pancreas surgery alongside gallbladder surgery, inguinal hernia and laparoscopy. He privately practices at London Liver Centre, part of London Bridge Hospital, Bupa Cromwell Hospital and King's Private at King's College Hospital. He also works for the NHS at the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Prachalias is highly qualified and underwent training at both nationally and internationally-recognised medical institutions. In 1990 he was awarded a Ptychio Iatrikes, an equivalent to an MBBS, from the University of Crete's medical school. Following this, he completed general surgical training in Greece and then joined King's College Hospital's liver unit as a senior clinical fellow where he trained in advanced HPB (hepatopancreatobiliary) surgery and liver transplantation. 

After his clinical training, Mr Prachalias was appointed consultant surgeon and senior lecturer in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at Athens University Medical School in 2000. Four years later he joined his current NHS trust, where he has been a consultant surgeon in liver transplantation, hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgery since 2004.

Mr Prachalias is at the forefront of his field, contributing to numerous scientific papers and is focussed on providing the best care to his patients using the latest minimally invasive techniques. 

In 1999 he was appointed as a senior lecturer at Athens Medical school and he has also been and an invited guest speaker on advances in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery by the Royal Society of Medicine. 

Mr Pranchalias is also active member of the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) and International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHBPA).
