Dr Ben Parker is a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, with over 20 years of experience, based in Plymouth. He specialises in a range of mental health issues including ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, complex trauma, PTSD, emerging personality disorders, eating disorders, behavioural problems, family work and attachment difficulties.
Dr Parker undertook his medical studies at the University of Bristol, where he earned his MBChB in 1999. Subsequently, he achieved MRCPsych accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He completed his post-graduate training in London.
Since 2010, Dr Parker has served as an in-patient CAMHS consultant in London, Essex and Devon. However he now works entirely in the community with complex and high risk mental health difficulties in young people in the NHS in Plymouth. His main areas of interest are in attachment difficulties and childhood trauma, whilst also bringing substantial expertise in a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches. Furthermore, he has undergone training in the evaluation of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism.
Dr Parker currently serves as the training programme director for child and adolescent psychiatry at Peninsula Deanery, where he plays a role in shaping the training of child and adolescent psychiatrist.
