Mr Christopher Thorn is a respected consultant general and colorectal surgeon based in Swindon, who specialises in proctology, colonoscopy and haemorrhoids alongside colon and rectal cancer, hernia repair and functional bowel disease. He privately practises at The Ridgeway Hospital and Shalbourne Private Healthcare while his NHS base is The Great Western Hospital.
Mr Thorn, who has an MBBS from the University of London and an MD from the University of Leeds, is fellowship trained by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He underwent higher training in Leeds and London, including 18 months at St. Mark's Hospital. Here he specialised in complex colorectal disease and was awarded an Ethicon Fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
Mr Thorn is dedicated to clinical education and research. His research interests are enhanced recovery after colorectal surgery and the perioerative scoring system, while he is a member of the education executive committee of the European Federation - International Digestive Surgery (EFISDS).
