Professional statement
Dr Christos Kouimtsidis has a longstanding and award-winning career in clinical care, policy development and academic research at international level. He is a consultant in adult mental health and addiction psychiatry at the National Health Service (NHS) and privately. From 2019 until 2024, he was the national coordinator for addressing drugs of Greece, working at the Prime Minister’s Office.
He is an honorary academic. He has been involved in several clinical research studies. In collaboration with UK universities, he has been the chief or principal investigator for four National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) funded Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs). He has published three books and several chapters in other books. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers. He has participated as a keynote speaker in several international conferences.
In all his work he puts the person and the family at the centre of his attention with the aim to service the individual and the society.
