Dr Debashis Roy is a leading Consultant Cardiologist based in Buckhurst Hill and Sawbridgeworth.

With over 25 years' clinical experience, Dr Roy is renowned for his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all aspects of general Cardiology including chest pain, breathlessness, hypertension, dizziness, ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, cardiac arrhythmias, palpitations, and blackouts. 

Dr Roy, who consults privately at Nuffield Health The Holly Hospital and at The Rivers Hospital, originally qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 1998. He is highly proficient in all aspects of Cardiology, including echocardiography, pacemaker implantation, and coronary angiography procedures. Dr Roy undertook his higher specialist training on the prestigious South Thames rotation, practising at leading hospitals in Surrey, Sussex and London including St Thomas’s and St. George’s Hospital.

As an expert in cardiac pacing, Dr Roy has received specialist training in cardiac resynchronisation therapy for the management of heart failure and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation, for the treatment of life-threatening arrhythmias.

Dr Roy played a key role in the first district general hospital, ICD implantation and follow-up service in Essex. He joined The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS trust in 2013 and is the Clinical Lead for Cardiology, cardiac pacing and complex devices. Dr. Roy is a high-volume implanter of ICD and biventricular pacemakers at The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre.

Additionally, Dr Roy is a member of respected professional organisations, including the The British Cardiac Society and is a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians. He was awarded an industry fellowship to complete an MD thesis in Cardiology evaluating a new biomarker of myocardial ischaemia. Dr. Roy maintains an active role in clinical research and has authored research papers in several international scientific peer-reviewed journals.
