Dr Dora Amran is a leading respiratory consultant who specialises in cough, shortness of breath and pleural disease, alongside asthma, COPD and lung cancer. She privately practises at Spire Wellesley Hospital and provides private e-Consultation, while her NHS base is Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust where she is pleural lead for Southend University Hospital.
Dr Amran is highly qualified, with an MBBS, MRCP UK Resp and FRCP. She has been a respiratory consultant since 2016, and has international experience working in Malaysia and Canada, as well as the UK.
She was the joint clinical lead of the respiratory department in Southend from 2020 to 2022. She was instrumental in managing the COVID-19 pandemic response and has been nominated twice for awards at the hospital. Dr Amran is a respected name in academic circles and is a supervisor for medical students from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine. She supervises all grades of trainee junior doctors and conducts appraisals for consultants and associate specialists. She is also actively involved in all levels of local and national recruitment from medical students and junior doctors, to higher specialty trainees and respiratory medicine consultants.
Dr Amran is a member of various professional organisations including the British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society and the Royal College of Physicians. Furthermore, her research has been published in various peer review journals.
