Professor Guy Lloyd is a seasoned clinical cardiologist with a broad practice in general cardiology, specializing in valvular heart disease and echocardiography. His education began at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, where he completed both undergraduate and postgraduate training, including research supervised by Dr. Graham Jackson on the unique clinical challenges faced by women with heart disease. In 2002, he became a consultant in Eastbourne, Sussex, and later moved to the Bart Heart Centre in 2015, where he established and currently leads the echocardiography service, also serving as the clinical director for cardiovascular diagnostics.
Beyond his clinical work, Professor Lloyd has been a significant figure in the cardiovascular field. He was President of the British Society of Echocardiography and has held leadership roles such as chairing the UK Imaging Council. He is a founding member of the British Heart Valve Society and has over 200 publications to his name. As Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiovascular Society, he also holds honorary positions at Queen Mary University of London and University College London. His research focuses on stress echocardiography, structural heart disease, and innovative methods for detecting high-frequency diseases within communities.
