I was referred to Malcolm Finlay by my consultant. It was arranged that the consultation would be by telephone. Mr Finlay's telephone was on time, he introduced himself and immediately l was put at ease. The consultation was very informative, he explained everything so you could understand what you were being told. All my question were answered and he was very reassuring. At the end of the consultation he said if l thought of any further questions l could contact his secretary and he would get back to me. I cannot think that there could be any further improvement.

Amazing this was an experience of a lifetime. With some foreboding I was wheeled into the operating theatre to be met by a very reassuring Doctor Finlay and his excellent medical team of four. The theatre was like a scene from Star Trek. I received my local anathasthetic. A curtain was dropped on the left side of my face so that I could not see the the operation ( just as well I think !! ) With me not feeling a thing and without any sedation ( I was wide awake being able to look to my right ) Doctor Finlay carried out the operation with his excellent team. During the operation, dare I say it life got a little tedious ( unimaginable when someone is knocking around with your heart ) but softened by one of the excellent nurses occasionally holding my hand....a really thoughtful touch. At the end of the procedure ( updated word for operation ) I thanked Doctor Finlay and his super excellent for their superb work since when I have felt no pain and hardly notice I have a pacemaker at all, all truly amazing. It was just like thanking a waiter for his excellent service at a restaurant on leaving or a shop assistant for their help. Amazing, quite bizarre. The after care was fantastic. I would like to thank Doctor Finlay and his team for a truly wonderful day and i can’t thank you all for the excellent experience and total care and commitment I received I cant thank you enough and have informed others of what turned out to be an incredible and unforgettable day My best wishes to you all Kindest Regards Alexander ( Bill ) Cameron Hospital Number 10284974

My husband recently underwent a catheter ablation performed by Dr Malcolm Finlay and his team. It is too early to say whether the procedure has been successful (although early signs are encouraging). Dr Finlay's outstanding qualifications, career and record of achievements speak for themselves and he is clearly a leader in his field. I have no doubt whatsoever that everybody concerned did their absolute best, with great skill and - dare I say it? - with the most cutting edge technology (see what I did there?) at the amazing Wellington hospital. It seems to me that, generally speaking, once a patient is anaethsetised, one is in the hands of the medical staff, who are either able to fix the problem or ... not. But, see, here's the thing. Dr Finlay spent time with us both before and after the operation and nothing was too much trouble for him. He was kind and patient, and - this is the part which matters - treated us with respect, compassion and genuine interest. His absolute passion for what he does shone through, and although he had to present us with some pretty scary stats about catheter ablation, he did so in such a way that we knew we were in the safest and most skilled of hands. We both felt 100% trust in Dr Finlay and in his team. Most importantly, my husband and I were reassured that our fears and queries were perfectly understandable. Whatever the outcome, I am so grateful that my husband was treated by this charming surgeon whose bedside manner is absolutely exemplary; a rare compliment indeed in these harried times. Our whole experience was made so easier by the professionalism and kindness of Dr Malcolm Finlay.

Dr Finlay was very professional, he performed a CryoAblation on me in March 2017 before the procedure he spent quite some time explaining everything that could go wrong and the consequences, he also explained all the positives. I would definitely recommend him for this procedure.
