Professional statement
Mr Mamun Rahman is a leading consultant ophthalmologist based in Glasgow.
He has special interest and experience in cataract surgery, performing over 800 cataract procedures per year. Alongside his expertise in cataract surgery, he also has a special interest in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) - a non-surgical laser treatment for glaucoma, and is the most prolific surgeon in Scotland at performing the iStent procedure for treating glaucoma.
Mr Rahman completed his undergraduate training at Edinburgh Medical School, before going on to undertake ophthalmic training at the world-renowned Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, where he was awarded the Pfizer Ophthalmology Medal. He has also spent time furthering his training in a number of respected institutions such as the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in the USA.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Rahman is also dedicated to teaching, holding a Honorary Cliical Senior Lecturer role at the University of Glasgow Medical School, as well as being an official examiner for the FRCS (Ophthalmology) examinations.
