Dr Maria Corretge

Dr Maria Corretge is a highly respected consultant geriatrician and general physician based in Edinburgh. She specialises in the management of Parkinson’s disease and dementia. She also has an interest in managing chronic fatigue, as well as geriatric care and healthy ageing.

Dr Corretge qualified in Medicine at Spain’s Universidad de Oviedo after completing Erasmus studies in Toulouse, France and Brussels, Belgium. Following her graduation, she relocated to the UK to undergo further training. She was appointed as a member and later as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the geriatrics section. Through her many years work as a consultant physician, she has gained invaluable clinical experience and specialises in providing world class care for older patients, particularly relating to movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease. She sees private patients at Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh.

Dr Corretge has authored a number of academic publications which appear in respected, peer-reviewed journals. She has recently completed postgraduate qualifications in Religion, Ethics and Philosophy with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree with The Open University. She has also undertaken medical voluntary work for Health-Point Foundation for refugee crisis relief and has an ongoing non-medical volunteering commitment to the Society of St Vincent de Paul. She is involved in medical politics and is an appointed spokesperson and member of the Advisory board for the campaining organisation EveryDoctor.
