With over two decades of expertise in plastic surgery, Mr Mogdad Alrawi has established himself as a distinguished consultant in the field. He specialises in skin cancer, tummy tuck surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, breast augmentation, breast reduction/uplift, symmetrising surgery, liposuction, arm and thigh reduction, eyelid rejuvenation surgery, prominent ears correction, gynaecomastia/male breast reduction and corrective surgery after massive weight loss.
His career in plastic surgery began in Dublin in 2000, where he earned a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Further honing his skills, he pursued advanced studies and research at Imperial College London, securing both an MSc and a diploma in Surgery by 2003. His surgical journey took him to Newcastle Trust as a trainee, where he progressed through the highly competitive plastic surgery national training programme.
His specialist training culminated in a prestigious Fellowship with the Training Interface Group in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at Sheffield NHS and private hospitals. Mr Alrawi is a dual-certified Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK and Ireland, and a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS). He has served as a consultant plastic surgeon since 2012 and holds full membership in the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS) and a full member in the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (BAAPS).
In addition to his general practice, Mr Alrawi is deeply involved in skin cancer care, serving as a core member of the Specialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. As the surgical lead for the melanoma skin cancer service, he has been instrumental in developing the Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB) service for melanoma patients in the North East of England.
Introduced in 2015, this service adheres to the guidelines set forth by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and provides melanoma patients with crucial staging and prognostic information. Additionally, he leads the perineal and perianal reconstruction services for patients undergoing anorectal cancer surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, showcasing his versatile surgical expertise across multiple domains of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
