Dr Nasser Loza

Dr Nasser Loza is a highly esteemed director and consultant psychiatrist based in London, who specialises in the treatment and management of various mental health illnesses, including mood disorders, addictions, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and schizophrenia. With more than 40 years of experience in this specific field, he sees patients at the renowned mental health center, The International Clinic, London. Dr Loza is also the director of two leading centres in Cairo, the Behman Hospital and the Maadi Psychology Centre, where he holds clinic hours as well.

After completing his MB BCH from Cairo University in 1981, Dr Loza moved to England to continue his specialist training in psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry and the Maudsley Hospital in London. In 1987, Dr Loza was awarded membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and later that same year, returned to Cairo to found the Benham Hospital's addiction program and old age psychiatry department. Dr Loza became a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists eight years later and Chairman of its Middle East Division in 2013. He received the College's prestigious Honorary Fellowship in 2015.

In 2021, Dr Loza was named President of the World Federation for Mental Health for a consecutive term after his first appointment to the post in 2019. For six years beforehand, from 2005 to 2011, Dr Loza had served as the Secretary General for Mental Health at Egypt’s Ministry of Health, establishing the National Mental health commission and leading a review and update of national mental health legislation.
