Professional statement
Dr Naveed Younis is a consultant endocrinologist and general physician, with expertise in the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands, hypogonadism, diabetes and related complications. He also offers services as a medicolegal expert witness. His practice is located at the Spire Fylde Coast and Spire Regency Hospitals.
Dr Younis qualified from Manchester University in 1993 and undertook his training in hospitals in Manchester and Liverpool. He completed a clinical research fellowship in Liverpool on retinopathic screening. In 2008, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He is currently the Clinical Lead for Endocrinology at the University Hospital South Manchester and the regional training programme director in endocrinology of the NHS’ North Western Deanery.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Younis is an avid educator and research. He is a teacher for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Manchester University, and an honorary lecturer at the University of Manchester and Cardiff University. He is an associate editor for Diabetic Medicine Journal, a regular reviewer of Diabetologia, Lancet, and Diabetes Care Journal, and has extensive, peer-reviewed publications regarding diabetes and endocrinology.
