Mr Roy Gurprashad is a consultant paediatric surgeon with over 20 years of experience. Mr Gurprashad is an expert in numerous surgical procedures common in infants and children, with his areas of expertise including inguinal hernia, hydrocele, circumcision, undescended testicle, umbilical hernia and gallbladder surgery.

Mr Gurprashad currently practises privately at the Cobham Clinic in Luton, and the Clementine Churchill Hospital in London. He is also the clinical lead for paediatric general surgery at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Trust.

Mr Gurprashad first qualified with an MBBS from King’s College London, before receiving his MSc in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London. He then went on to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Mr. Gurprashad successfully finished his specialised paediatric surgery training at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). He gained valuable experience working in the expert neonatal and paediatric surgical division. This training has equipped him with the necessary skills to evaluate and treat intricate cases involving children of various ages, from newborns to adolescents. Presently, he focuses on facilitating the transition of children from paediatric surgical services to adult services and receives referrals from GOSH for this purpose.

Mr. Gurprashad prioritises the provision of safe and effective surgical care for children, and in his managerial roles, he strives to deliver care that is both safe and of high quality. Currently, he serves as the Clinical Lead for Paediatric General Surgery at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Trust. In order to expand paediatric surgical services in Luton, he has also held an Honorary Consultant position at GOSH to ensure future care pathways are well-coordinated. Additionally, he is an active member of the Trust's Children's Board and serves as the chair of the Children's Steering Group. He is a proud member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgery (BAPS).
