Dr Shelley Rahman Haley is a leading consultant cardiologist in London, Harefield and Hemel Hempstead, who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart valve diseases, particularly aortic and mitral valve disease and transoesophageal echocardiography. She also sees cancer patients with heart problems (cardio-oncology), who are undergoing chemotherapy or other treatment types that affect their heart’s health. Dr Rahman Haley also treats patients with a family history of heart disease.

Dr Rahman Haley qualified from Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine in 1995, before going on to train in cardiology with a sub-specialist interest in non-interventional cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac imaging at Papworth, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ Hospitals. In 2001, she obtained an MD for her doctoral thesis on cardiac imaging techniques in women, completing this at Royal Brompton Hospital’s nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular magnetic resonance department. Dr Rahman Haley was appointed as the first Clinical Lead for echocardiography at Harefield Hospital in 2007. Since then, the echocardiography department has doubled in size and results, providing the latest imaging techniques. Her priority is to offer a personalised service for her patients’ needs.

Besides her cardiology practice, Dr Rahman Haley has co-authored papers in highly-regarded journals, including Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and has authored chapters in several textbooks. Dr Rahman Haley now focuses on mechanical circulatory support, cardiac and lung transplantation, and heart valve disease research.
