Mr Viju Peter is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in the hip and knee.

His well-established career has resulted in exceptional skill in numerous hip and knee procedures, such as arthroscopy for the hip and knee and he is one of the few surgeons in the Liverpool area with such extensive experience in this procedure. Mr Peter also regularly performs hip and knee replacements, including complex primary joint replacement, and he performs several types of revision hip surgery such as revision surgery for failed metal on metal hips, periprosthetic fractures and infected joint replacements.

Additionally, Mr Peter has a special interest in treating hip problems in children and young adults, particularly arthritis-related issues. With his colleagues, he contributed to the creation of a joint replacement service at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with transitional clinics between Alder Hey Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital, allowing the most effective care for children and young adults with hip problems.

Mr Peter has also contributed to his field through scientific medical research. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to speak at national and international orthopaedic conferences.
