Professor Hemant Kocher is exceptionally thorough, experienced and knowledgeable. He was very efficient and quick to analyse my past history of gall stones. He spent time arranging an initial video consultation, even when he was on a holiday. He explained my condition clearly and advised with wisdom. Kocher review I was so lucky to have Prof Hemant Kocher perform the gallbladder removal keyhole surgery on me early Jan 2023. My experience with him was fantastic throughout and he changed my life! He is very knowledgeable and approachable, and to my surprise always responsive in email. In my first consultation, he explained my condition and treatment options clearly and simply, as well as answered all my questions patiently. He also provided me with detailed information of my condition, gallbladder removal surgery and after care. He is extremely efficient communicating with me and his team regarding to my surgery. I felt reassured and cared for every time I spoke with him. I originally chose a later date for my surgery as it wasn’t urgent. However my condition worsened just before Christmas. I tried my luck to ask Prof Kocher if it was possible to bring my surgery forward, and he said yes instantly. I was so grateful. I find it so thoughtful that he arranges surgeries on Friday, so family or friends can take care of his patients on Saturday without taking time off. My surgery went very well. To my surprise almost painless. The cuts were very well considered cosmetically so they would leave minimal scars. Prof Kocher puts my well-being first and took great care of me throughout my experience. I can’t thank him enough to give my normal life back.

Prof Kocher is an amazing doctor. The best one I could find for my pancreas. He's the only person that diagnosed me quickly (after 5 years of symptoms) and he conducted a complex surgery and I had zero complications after. He's amazing and is the only doc I'll see for my pancreas

The doctor mentioned that... "Women in general have digestive issues"... He should really be upskilling or looking to investigate why this is the case, rather than explaining it as a given issue. It's quite out dated and archaic in it's approach to patient management.

It is true that digestive issues are more common in women and I often tell this to patients as reassurance that their symptoms do not suggest a serious illness. I am sorry that you have misinterpreted my comments, but I would never suggest that 'women in general have digestive issues'. This doctor visited me in 7 minutes, and looked to be in a rush from the moment I entered his office. He did not ask about previous surgery (which was relevant in my case), and suggested a colonoscopy without anything other than a few questions regarding my symptoms.

First off, let me say Dr Purkayastha is the most personable and approachable doctor I have ever encountered in my years of on going surgeries. On 2 separate occasions he has personally saved my life, during a removal of a gastric band that was wrapped around my bowel which was a “day surgery” for 2 hours that turned into an overnight 7 hour surgery and the second surgery was just as eventful and ended up in hospital for 4 and a half weeks under his personal care. In which he checked in with hospital staff every day (even when he was off-call). Although he advised me against further surgery, he understood my suffering and quality of life was outweighing the risk of a corrective surgery. He took the time again personally making sure the team that performed the surgery alongside him took the time to ensure everything went as smoothly as possibly. Therefore him and his team gave me back my quality of life and i owe him a huge debt. Best surgeon ever. Maria W

Mr Purkayastha has been excellent, both in communicating clearly and fully, and as far as I can tell in the surgery itself. His office, however, was very hard to communicate with, not answering the phone or returning voice messages or answering emails.
