Dr Adnan Al-Araji is a highly accomplished and experienced consultant neurologist practising in London. His extensive experience in all aspects of general neurology makes him ideally placed to assess people with a wide range of undiagnosed symptoms such as headache, dizziness, faints/seizures, numbness, tingling, tremor, weakness, balance difficulty, visual symptoms, fatigue and memory problems. He has special expertise in managing people with multiple sclerosis, Neuro-Behcet’s disease and related conditions.
He has broad experience in treating patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures due to his international positions in the Middle East, Canada and the UK.
Dr Al-Araji studied medicine at the University of Baghdad, graduating in 1977. He pursued post-graduate training in both Iraq and the UK, becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1986. His post-graduate training gave him the opportunity to expand his knowledge in a wide range of areas, including neuroimaging, clinical neurophysiology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine, intensive care and neuropsychiatry. He takes a special interest in inflammatory and demyelinating neurological conditions.
He is devoted to medical education and has held several positions where he taught medics of the future. He held the role of visiting associate professor of neurology at the prestigious University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and also worked as a teacher and supervisor for undergraduates of Keele Medical School during their neurology placement, as well as postgraduate neurology trainees.
Alongside his interest in medical education, Dr Al-Araji possesses a deep interest in clinical research. Several of his research works have been published in peer-reviewed journals and during his time spent in Canada, he co-authored a book for the World Congress of Neurology.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr Al-Araji undertakes neurology medicolegal work for personal injuries and clinical negligence cases, working to improve documentation practices, diagnostic and treatment skills, to manage risk, offer continuing education opportunities and improve quality of patients’ care.
Dr Al-Araji is a member of numerous medical organisations, including the Association of British Neurologists and the Royal Colleges of Physicians.
