Mr Aldrin Khan

Professional statement

Mr Aldrin Khan is a highly skilled consultant ophthalmologist with practice in Bingley and Leeds who specialises in surgery for cataracts, performing over 1,500 cataract operations a year with all complexity of cataract. He has performed over 10,000 procedures in total. With over 25 years’ experience in ophthalmology, Mr Khan is also an expert in glaucoma laser treatments and cornea transplant procedures, and has extensive experience providing multifocal /toric lenses for astigmatism correction as well. Mr Khan currently sees patients at The Yorkshire Clinic Bingley and at Newmedica Leeds.

Mr Khan, who also provides multifocal lens implants, qualified from the University of the West Indies before relocating to the UK. He successfully completed his surgical training in the North Thames, South Thames and the Yorkshire and Humber deaneries, while also working as an honorary fellow on the cataract, cornea and laser refractive surgery units at St James’ University and the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. As a trainee, he undertook specialised clinical and laboratory research in endophthalmitis and gene therapy to the cornea at the renowned Institute of Ophthalmology, the largest site for ophthalmic investigation, treatment and medical education in Europe.

Upon the completion of his CCT, Mr Khan accomplished a prestigious fellowship in glaucoma surgery at York Hospital before taking up a consultant post at County Durham and Darlington Hospitals, where he also served as clinical audit and clinical governance lead. A fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Mr Khan has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also a dedicated tutor for optometry students, and presented his clinical findings at national and international meetings. Mr Khan has been College Tutor at Bradford Royal Infirmary (from 2014 to 2019), and also has a passion for teaching/ mentoring trainee ophthalmologist.
