Mr Alexander von Roon is an extensively trained and skilled consultant general and colorectal surgeon in London.
He has outstanding skill in all minor and major colorectal procedures and is a leading provider of minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly colonoscopy and laparoscopic surgery. To date, Mr von Roon has performed over 1000 colonoscopies and 500 upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopies. He regularly performs routine and complex laparoscopic surgery for the gallbladder, all types of hernia, colorectal cancer and several other colorectal conditions. He underwent subspecialist training in colorectal surgery in Adelaide, Australia, and at St Mark’s Hospital, a specialist bowel hospital. He is also an expert in ileoanal pouch surgery.
Mr von Roon ensures that he is up to date with the latest surgical techniques, including the Rafaelo Procedure®, a pioneering haemorrhoid treatment that offers patients a faster recovery than more traditional procedures. Furthermore, he is fully trained on the novel Senhance Robotic Surgery platform and is undergoing full training on the DaVinci system.
Additionally, he has a keen interest in the treatment of anal fistula, rectal prolapse, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Since 2019, he has practised at University College London Hospital, where he continues to develop his subspecialist interest in surgery for inflammatory bowel disease.
Research is another area of his surgical career. He has made great scientific contributions to the research of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and familial adenomatous polyposis. Furthermore, he has presented his work in numerous conferences and is a reviewer for several renowned peer-reviewed surgical journals.
