Mr Andrew Kay is a highly esteemed consultant neurosurgeon based in Birmingham who specialises in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, including acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma) and meningioma. With over 30 years' experience, his clinical interests also include extremely rare pineal region tumours, posterior fossa tumours and epidermoid tumours, as well as teenage and young adult tumours and microvascular decompression hemi facial spasm

Mr Kay consults privately at The Priory Hospital (Circle) Edgbaston, while his NHS base is at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, one of the busiest neurosurgical centres in Europe/UK. He originally qualified from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1991, with an MBBS and various prizes and awards, and undertook his training in Cambridge and at the renowned Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow, part of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. In 1999, Mr Kay won The Welcome Trust Clinical Scientist Research Training Fellowship Award in a strongly contested field, analysing the presence of apolipoprotein E and amyloid-B in cerebrospinal fluid after acute brain injury. This research later led to the award of an MD from the University of London.

Mr Kay is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 1995. As a leader in his specialty, Mr Kay has also authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and a number of book chapters. Beyond his clinical work, Mr Kay is an award-winning and Tier 1 recognised expert in clinical negligence and personal injury by APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).
