I received excellent service at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr Imber and his team were professional & accommodating. I would like to draw your attention to two points though: Dr Imber sadly cut me off when I tried entering into a dialog with him after my surgery while still at the hospital. At my after care appointment, he decided to enter into a private conversation with a visiting patient and left me standing in the corridor. I was unimpressed by this.

Overall I had a great experience with Mr Imber: he is a very experienced and professional surgeon and he never made me doubt his competence. I think he took a great care of me and I wouldn’t ever ask for more. May be just taking a bit more time focusing on my questions and or feelings would have made me even more relaxed. But I appreciate that he is a very busy consultant so I take it as a given. Nevertheless extremely grateful!

In a word exceptional ! I don’t really need to say anymore…. He was extremely helpful from the my first appointment, through the surgery and on my check up. His team were fantastic across all the work disciplines within both hospitals. I would highly recommend Cleveland Clinic. The only negative is private health companies…. The issues of not agreeing to pay!!. I had waited for 3 months for robotic keyhole (which was agreed) to be informed I was having the Operation via the traditional method on the day of surgery. This in no way was the blame of Cleveland Clinic and Mr Imber fully explained the situation and informed me that the traditional method was a better solution. That said it meant I could have received the treatment last year. Imagine if I had requested the keyhole on the day and it not been available? I would have been further delayed. I would suggest that if the issue of monies from certain companies is a problem then confirm that to the patient. I just want to emphasise once again my treatment was First Class.

Best decision I ever made meeting Mr Imber. He was able to offer a procedure that the NHS could not. The procedure has prolonged my life, absolutely priceless. If you hit a brick wall with the NHS, please ask for a referral to a private specialist.

My experience of Mr Imber was very good indeed. I met him on a Tuesday for a consultation. with surgery about 10 days later. He explained the procedure and was certainly more relaxed in the hospital where he had a good bedside manner. I would recommend Mr Imber without hesitation.

Thank you so much Mr Imber for everything you have done to help me on my road to recovery.

The care I received from Mr Imber and the surgical team was outstanding. At every stage, I felt confident I’d done my research well in selecting Mr Imber as my consultant. He clearly seemed to be someone at the top of his game, which was important to me as someone who is extremely anxious in any medical situation. On meeting him, I felt confident he would be the right consultant for the job (removing my gallbladder). Not only was he exceptionally well qualified, professionally, he was also extremely sensitive to my personal needs and was expert in managing my anxiety. I am so pleased to have made the decision for self-pay private care, on this occasion; I could not be happier with the experience I received from Mr Imber and the surgical team.

What a phenomenal consultant. From the initial meet, I knew I was in safe and competent hands. He was not only knowledgable but listened to my concerns with care and put me at ease. The surgery went smoothly and I am so grateful to have had him, would highly recommend.

During my pre surgery assessment Mr Imber was welcoming and very informative about the process of surgery, putting my mind at ease explaining every stage and how I would feel post surgery. This is very important when you’re feeling unwell and vulnerable. The care I received the day of my surgery was exceptional. I was reassured every step of the way, which helped any anxiety I had. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Imber and I thank him for all his help.

I had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and collaborating with Prof Murphy, Mr Imber removed my tumour and resectioned my upper colon and duodenum. This involved innovative revision of the digestive pathway and, significantly, avoided the Whipple procedure. This was complicated surgery carried out on Christmas Eve 2021 at The London Clinic. I have been recovering strongly since and look forward to being signed off shortly, thanks after being seen by my clinical oncologist. Mr Imber’s care, humour and skill inspired optimism in me at all times. I believe you never completely say goodbye to cancer once you have had it but I have been extremely lucky. 10 August 2022

I was recommended to seek a consultation with Mr Imber, following concerns with a routine Gall Bladder scan. Mr Imber took immediate care of my situation, arranged a CT Scan at the Cleveland's Clinic in London within hours of me first making contact and saw me on the next afternoon. The urgency that Mr Imber dealt with my situation and his careful, considerate manner and expertise, immediately put my mind at rest and I have now undergone successful surgery, undertaken by Mr Imber, at the Cleveland Clinic in London. Whilst extremely nervous of any hospital treatment, my experience at the Cleveland Clinic served to make the whole matter a lot more comfortable than I thought possible and I cannot speak highly enough and am so appreciative of the wonderful care shown by Mr Imber and the hospital's staff. I am truly grateful for care shown by Mr Imber and the Cleveland and the successful treatment of my condition.

Charles operated on me in March 2018 and removed a malignant tumour. Without Charles, his knowledge, his care and his expertise in such complicated surgeries I would not be able to write this review. I cannot recommend Dr Imber enough. He is gifted, skilled and a clear and concise communicator in such complex surgeries . I saw him for the first time since Nov 2019 due to Covid and he was courteous, caring and professional. Therefore if you are not feeling right , losing weight for no reason etc. make an appointment to see him. He is beyond doubt in the top 5 in the world at what he does and for me he will always be the number 1 surgeon in the world

I do not write reviews, one of those people that are always happy to read reviews but never contribute. However with the last few years of medical complications, I feel compelled to do so, as Doctor Imber has been nothing short of a life saver, literally. I first met Doctor Imber when I was admitted to the Princess Grace through emergency day clinic. I had a developing abscess, suffering immense pain and presenting early signs of sepsis. Unfortunately not the first time I have been in this situation, I was aware along with the doctors on hand I needed surgery to remove the infection, quickly, but they were not sure if they would find a surgeon so late on a Saturday, enter Doctor Imber. From the moment I met him he was nothing short of sympathetic to my pain and concerns. After the surgery he visited and with help of his lovely PA Jane, gave very supportive aftercare. Although I am no medical expert, the incision and recovery were drastically less than the surgery I had previously, so id wage, he is also clinically good. Unfortunately, my story did not end there, the abscess re occurred nearly exactly one year later, this time in the depths of the pandemic. With new restrictions and workloads making any medical procedures very difficult, Doctor Imber (and again the amazing Jane) found ways to ensure I was seen too as soon as possible. He then referred to a professor who specialised in the area, as he wanted to ensure the best care for me and a solution to the issue. Which then brings me to today, the abscess came back just a few months ago, the specialist I have been seeing (who was very good) was on holiday. I once again turned to doctor Imber, who did not let me down. He stayed late in clinic to see me, knowing how critical the situation could be, but also what I have been through. He re admitted me into his care, proceeding to spend much effort to find a specialist who could see me urgently. This new surgeon has potentially found the underlying cause and a solution to eradicate it. It’s been a long five years, but I imagine would have been made allot longer, allot more painful and traumatic if it wasn’t for the help of Doctor Imber. He is a great surgeon, and in my opinion a good man. I count myself lucky to have met him.

I had 2 hernias on which Mr Imber operated. From start to finish my care under Mr Imber was excellent. As soon as I met him I felt at ease. He explained everything that would happen during my procedure and how I would feel afterwards. He took time to listen to my concerns. He is a brilliant surgeon and a nice man. I would certainly recommend him. I would also like to mention having never had surgery before, many phone calls were made to Mr Imber's secretary, she was also always pleasant and helpful.

Mr Imber was very effective in my treatment. Before I attended my first appointment, he had already reviewed the results of my scan and recommended a course of action straight away. My procedure was scheduled for 2 weeks later, and everything went smoothly. I am very satisfied with Mr Imber’s treatment and would gladly recommend him to any other gallstone sufferers. Special mention to Mr Imber’s secretary as well, who was very helpful and responsive during the process.

5 months ago I was referred to Mr Imber for a cholecystectomy after finding stones in my gallbladder. I don’t know where to start with the horror of what happened to me, how I was treated after the surgery and the pain I am still in. I was told by the Dr that I would experience discomfort for 2 days and will return to “normal” activities within 2 weeks. 1 day After my surgery I was discharged only to be readmitted 2 days later in excruciating pain. I was unable to move, stand straight, I was vomiting, and couldn’t eat anything. I was admitted under his care and he ran tests and said he couldn’t find a reason for my pain. He said the surgery was a success and discharged me. I was not convinced. I was on Tramadol, codeine, and even morphine for pain and I STILL couldn’t walk. He made me feel so bad about my situation, the last thing you want to feel as a patient. He came to my room one morning and told the nurses afterwards that he was “annoyed” that I wasn’t moving around! He lacks empathy and pressured me to leave the hospital while I was still in pain. Maybe he thought I was lying about the pain or it was on my head or maybe or he doesn’t want to have to answer any of my questions. I kept requesting my blood tests and refused but after complaining at the hospital I was finally allowed to see some of them only to find that my liver enzymes were highly elevated. I kept pressing the issue only to be reassured by him and the other Dr on duty that it was nothing. After I was discharged with apparently “normal post op pain” I went back for a follow up a week after. I was still in pain. Mr Imber was dismissive and very un-empathetic AGAIN. I was in tears in his office I felt desperate and begged him for answers as to why I was still in pain. To which he responded that he did his job and that any problems I may be experiencing are not “his fault” and that I should see someone else. He was clearly annoyed I came to see him again. He was more worried about his image and reputation than my health and well-being it seemed. He said I should go back to my Gastro because he “can’t help me”. Yes the surgeon who operated on me can’t help 2 weeks post op. he insisted his surgery was a success then he practically kicked me out of the office. Obviously I never went back to him and refuse to deal with him ever again. What a shocker it was to learn that in fact I had complications after the surgery which should’ve been picked up by him easily. I don’t know if it was his ego that stopped him from admitting there was an issue but there was one and I have since required 2 further procedures to treat it as well as medication which I’m still using. All now under the care of another consultant. Mr Imber not only failed to diagnose me properly after my emergency admittance to the hospital and spending 8 days under his care, where I was poked for blood tests EVERYDAY he also misinformed me about my liver test results (which were highly elevated according to 2 other consultants that I saw following my discharge) he also failed to pick up that there was a problem with my blood results which was an indication of a serious health complication following the surgery. When I challenged him on my blood test results he got defensive and responded abruptly that “it was fine”. Well it wasn’t and I’m glad I trusted my gut instinct and went to see another consultant who diagnosed me on the spot. 3 days later I was under general anesthetic again receiving emergency diagnostic treatment . I wasn’t crazy or imagining it like he made me feel. It was real, he just didn’t bother to diagnose it. 5 months on, I’m still in pain ( worse than what I started with 6 months ago) and wish I never saw Mr Imber. I’ve lost my ability to exercise, or go for long walks, do house work. I was gaslighted and neglected and the treatment I received left me traumatized months later. I do not recommend this dr at all and am genuinely surprised I was referred to him in the first place. I wish I did more research and saw more than 1 Dr before I let him cut me open
