Dr Gavin Clague is a highly respected consultant musculoskeletal radiologist based in South Wales. He is renowned for his expertise in MRI, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and spinal imaging. He additionally specialises in imaging of sports injuries, ultrasound-guided intervention and spinal injections.
Dr Clague qualified in medicine from University College London in 2002 and went on to undergo further training in the south west of England. In 2006, he achieved membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in 2010, was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. After completing his radiology training in Bristol in 2012 and gaining a postgraduate certificate in sports and exercise medicine, he was awarded a year-long fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Alberta, Canada. On his return to the UK, Dr Clague was appointed as a consultant musculoskeletal radiologist at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, where he continues to serve as an educational and clinical supervisor of musculoskeletal trainees on the South Wales radiology training scheme. Dr Clague sees patients in private practice at the esteemed Alliance Medical Cardiff clinic.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Clague has previously represented the Royal College of Radiologists on the National Back Pain and Radiculopathy Pathway clinical group and is a current member of the South Wales Spinal Network working group. Dr Clague routinely teaches radiology trainees and fellow medical professionals and is a member of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists and the Radiological Society of North America.
