Mr Hanny Anwar is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon based in Elstree. His areas of expertise include spinal tumour surgery (primary and metastatic), minimally invasive spinal surgery, revision spinal surgery, and surgery for complex spinal deformity. Additionally, he also specialises in sciatica, scoliosis, disc prolapse, back pain, and neck pain.
Mr Anwar, who consults privately at Elstree Waterfront Outpatients Centre, has a demonstrated commitment to surgical excellence. He holds an MBBS and an intercalated BMedSci from the University of London, and undertook his higher specialist orthopaedic training on the prestigious Pervical Pott rotation, which includes surgical periods of study at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
As a leading spinal specialist, Mr Anwar pursued fellowship training in orthopaedic spinal surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and in neurosurgical spinal surgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, two of the largest specialist units in the UK. He was also recognised with the British Association of Spinal Surgeons travelling fellowship and notably holds the esteemed fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 2010.
Mr Anwar currently holds the illustrious positions of division director for specialist surgery and clinical director for spine surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, where he oversees the delivery of spine care services. He has published widely in high-impact orthopaedic spinal journals, and is also one of the lead surgeons for spinal sarcoma at the National Priority Setting Partnership. Previously, Mr Anwar served as a board member at London Cancer for Acute Oncology, where he contributed his insights to enhance cancer care pathways.
