Dr Hina Javaid Shahid is a leading family physician, with over 15 years of experience, based in inner city London. She specialises in premenstrual syndrome, integrative medicine, lifestyle medicine, well woman screening, women's health and coaching (personal development).
She qualified with Distinction in Medical Sciences from University College London in 2008. She also holds a BSc in Pharmacology from University College London (2005) an MSc in Public Health (2015) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and also holds diplomas in child and adolescent health, women's health and sexual and reproductive health.
Dr Shahid has experience in clinical medicine, community outreach, health systems strengthening and humanitarian medicine. Her research interest is on the impact of Islamophobia on health care systems and health outcomes. She is the chairperson of the Muslim Doctors Association and is on the board of advisors for the Centre for Muslim Policy and Research.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Shahid takes a keen interest in medical education. She currently holds a position as an undergraduate tutor at Imperial College School of Medicine, a community educator and TV broadcaster. She is frequently consulted by government, public and third sector organisations and the media on health issues affecting the Muslim community in Britain.
Furthermore, she was awarded the International Travel Scholarship by the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2019 for her work in Palestine and was the recipient of the British Muslim Awards for Services to Medicine in 2017.
