Mr Imran Liaquat is a renowned consultant neurosurgeon based in Edinburgh. His expertise includes awake craniotomy, fluorescence-guided tumour resection, management of low-grade gliomas. He also manages emergencies and elective spinal pathologies at his NHS practice. Half of Mr Liaquat's operative workload are cases of degenerative spine. Mr Liaquat consults with around 500 patients a year with back and neck pain in his outpatient clinics.
Mr Liaquat studied at the University of Glasgow Medical School where he graduated and completed basic surgical training in the West of Scotland. Following a year as a Registrar in London, where Mr Liaquat worked at Kings College Hospital and St George's Hospital, he returned to Scotland to complete neurosurgical training in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. Mr Liaquat went back to St George's Hospital to complete a sub-specialist fellowship in neurosurgery. Mr Liaquat gained extensive experience in all aspects of general neurosurgery and neuro-oncology, including awake craniotomy, management of low-grade gliomas and fluorescence-guided tumour resection.
Mr Liaquat has an active interest in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He completed a Masters in Surgical Education, helping him to refine his teaching skills. Mr Liaquat is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Tutor at the University of Edinburgh. He was recently accredited as a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In addition, he has recently taken on the local training lead role for Neurosurgical training and is an Educational Supervisor. Furthermore, in his role as the National Clinical Lead for the Scottish Adult Neuro-Oncology Network, he has advanced the standard of care throughout Scotland by leading on and reforming quality performance indicators (QPIs) and contributed to the development of clinical guidelines to help diagnose Brain Tumours earlier in the community. He is an active researcher in neurotrauma, surgical assessment and neuro-oncology. He has contributed research to over 15 paper/abstract publications and has presented at national and international meetings. Mr Liaquat is currently involved in clinical research in neuro-oncology with university academic departments.

Arriving in the dark at Murray field. The signage to parking , main entrance ect not lit so was a little tricky.
