Mr James Allibone has been a highly reputable consultant spinal neurosurgeon since his appointment at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 2002, where he served as lead spinal surgeon. He is also the current lead clinician of the Complex Spinal Group at the NHNN.
Mr Allibone graduated from The London Hospital College in 1989 and initially trained in general surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He went on to complete his neurosurgery training in North London at the NHNN, developing extensive expertise in spinal neurosurgery. His clinical interests are particularly focused on the degenerative conditions of the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine, as well as spinal tumours.
With a deep foundation in both conservative and surgical treatment approaches, he brings substantial experience to the care of complex spinal cases. Currently, Mr Allibone serves as a member of the National Clinical Reference Group for Spinal Services and has previously also led the North London Metastatic Spinal Tumour Group. In addition to his clinical work, he is an active participant in national and international conferences, sharing his insights and contributing to advancements in spinal neurosurgery.
