He also specialises in substance misuse, particularly concerning club drugs like crystal methamphetamine, GHB/GBL and mephedrone. Dr Newson is dedicated to providing a holistic assessment, considering biological, psychological and social factors to formulate personalised treatment plans. His initial assessments typically involve a 90-minute consultation and a 30-minute follow-up session, tailored to individual needs.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Newson is a regular contributor to the membership examinations of the Royal College of Psychiatrists as a member of the MRCPsych critical review panel. He is a member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the British Medical Association, and the British Neuropsychiatric Association.
