Throughout my endometriosis and adenomyosis journey, Mr Mabrouk has both guided me and listened to my preferences. I trusted his judgement from medical treatment through to surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results. I finally have my life back after years of excrutiating pain and his excellent surgial skills, combined with advanced methods and outstanding care from the team at Clevelend Hospital, mean my recovery has been exemplary.

Mr Mabrouk exemplifies the very best in quality healthcare for women. He is a kind, compassionate, highly skilled and distinguished expert in his field. He is caring and thorough (determining an additional, unrelated issue with my gallbladder which was subsequently also treated) and ensured that I was provided with all of the various options available to me, together with time to consider each fully. The outcome of my surgery and my recovery has been excellent, and I feel a depth of gratitude to him for giving me my life back.

After suffering for 10 years with periods that were so painful that on occasion I would pass out I was unable to get a diagnosis for any abnormality from any Doctor that I had seen. (As most of my preliminary tests would come back normal.) I often found myself explaining my symptoms to medical professionals and being made to feel that I was being dramatic, which lead to me wondering if this pain was simply all in my head. I am so pleased to have found Mr Mabrouk, he is a credit to the profession and has a really nice bedside manner. For the first time I was instantly believed that I was in the level of pain that I felt. He went ahead and did my laparoscopy and confirmed and removed the presence of endometriosis. The care was patient focused and I felt that I was treated with total dignity and priority was given to my wishes regarding what I wanted from the surgery and my next steps. I was back to my day to day life in less than two weeks, but feeling better than ever. (And Mr Mabrouk did a lovely job with the points of entry as the three scars are tiny and have healed beautifully) I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Mabrouk to anybody else seeking answers in the women's health field.

I met Mr Mabrouk 3 years ago when I first started having gynaecology symptoms. We have Bupa healthcare and I was referred to Mr Mabrouk for further investigations. Mr Mabrouk has monitored my gynaecology problems with MRIs and other scans. He has been thorough all the way and is always reassuring. He is very pleasant and efficient as are his team of administration, especially Rosie his secretary. In summary I would recommend Mr Mabrouk to any gynaecology patient and I would not want anyone else to look after me as a patient.

My major multi-disciplinary surgery for endometriosis with a fibroid and bowel resection was undertaken and headed up by Dr Mabrouk who was always reassuring with his calm professional manner. However many questions I had he always had the time and patience to answer them, even encouraging me to think of more and contact him if I did so! When I was reading reviews before my surgery the one thing I couldn’t find on any of them was how the surgery actually went and I wanted to include that here in case anyone else is looking for this information like I was…although it was a very complex operation, Dr Mabrouk and his team did an outstandingly excellent job with incredible daily follow-up following the surgery. My recovery which was faster than anticipated has been a testament to this

Prof Mohamed Mabrouk is an extraordinary and phenomenal surgeon who recently completed a complicated fibroid procedure many surgeons have rejected my case due to how complicated it was. Went to one of the best hospitals in Abu Dhabi and they were all frightened to take on the job, it's not only fibroid but they are many others attached e.g. endometriosis and multiple cysts. Until I met Prof. Mohammed Mabrouk in Cleveland Clinic Grevenor London we went through the proper test and Prof. also invited other surgeons(Dr Rami Issa, Dr Chetan Bhan, Dr Arvind VASHISHT) they did an outstanding and out-of-this-world surgery on me and everything was done successfully without any damages even though it took them roughly 5-6hours but I really appreciate all their effort and expertise to get it done. After the surgery, I was taken to ICU and the nurses and HCA there were amazing and took care of me till I got transferred to the ward where all the nurses and HẠC were amazing as well. Prof. Mabrouk always calls to check on me and make sure everything is going well as it is supposed to be. This kind of behaviour is rare to see. I really can't thank you enough and the entire Cleveland Clinic Team. Again Thank you so much, Prof. Mabrouk.

Mr Mabrouk first saw me because of severe endometriosis pain at the Spire Lea in Cambridge. From the very start he listened and took his time to explain all my options. I decided to undergo surgery since the endometriosis was affecting my ureter and bowels as well. The surgery was done at the Cleveland Clinic in London. Mr Mabrouk operated together with a very skilled team. The entire team was amazing. Cleveland’s anaesthetist was warm, comforting, and very knowledgeable, and made me feel safe. Both the urologist (Mr Issa) and the bowel surgeon (Mr Bhan) were fabulous and explained everything very carefully. Mr Mabrouk called me regularly to keep me updated, and both his secretaries were wonderful and supportive throughout this stressful journey. And last but not least the nursing staff was super caring and made me feel safe.

Mr Mabrouk was an absolutely fantastic Dr. Throughout the lead up to my procedure, he made sure I was fully informed of my options and what the operation would entail, even drawing diagrams to help my partner and I to understand. On the day of the surgery I was very emotional and seeing this, Mr Mabrouk stayed with me on the walk down to theatre and in the anesthetic room. He also called me twice during my recovery in hospital to check in on how I was doing. I couldn't be more grateful!

Review - Mr Mohamed Mabrouk at the Spire in Cambridge. My journey for getting diagnosed with Endometriosis has been a bit of a different one. I had heavy periods in my teenage years which looking back were painful but I could function with them. Fast forward to 2016 I began getting strange symptoms as I came off birth control at 20 years old. I started having symptoms that were very similar to a UTI but all bacterial tests and a cytoscopy came back as negative so I was told to get on with it. Over the years my periods became more painful but I could still cope. Then in May of 2020 I began having awful symptoms. My symptoms were really heavy periods, bladder pain, back pain, severe mood swings (the lows left me suicidal), pain every time I had a bowel movement (I couldn't even pass gas without severe stabbing pains that would render me unable to move. My period pain was so intense I did actually believe I was dying the first time so I went to A and E who did agree I was bleeding was too much. They couldn't find my ovaries on the ultrasound and that should have been a warning sign for endo but nobody put it together. I carried on living in fear of my period coming each month. I was using up so many sick days each month as my pain would leave me fainting at work. I honeslty could not do anything but lie in a ball on the floor and crawl to the toilet where I would throw up from the pain. Life was misery. I went to my GP 100s of times about the pain and begging for a smear but they just kept saying I was too young and my periods would settle. That is when I began doing my own research and found the Nook. I went to the GP and presented to them that I might have Endo and would like to be referred to a specialist. My GP refused and promised I'd get the same care locally (and the same hospital what couldn't find my ovaries and sent me home). I carried on researching endo while I waited for my referral to come through and by the time it did I was well clued up about excision and realised the only way to get real help and fast for me was to pay private and see Mr Mabrouk. I enquired with Mr Mabrouks lovely receptionist Rosie (she is brilliant) and she explained I could use my health insurance too for each stage. My health insurance agreed to cover initial consults and diagnostics. I went to Mr Mabrouk for my initial consultation and he was really kind and listened to everything I had to say about pains and did an examination of me where he could see I was in pain being touched. He talked me though all of my diagnostic options and I went with an MRI knowing that was least invasive method and could show if there was extra bits to worry about like Endomitriomas. My MRI results are as below: "The uterus is anteverted and normal in size measuring 60 x 31 x 46 mm. The endometrium is linear and thin measuring 2 mm. The myometrium is unremarkable with no features of adenomyosis or focal fibroid. Both ovaries are displaced posteromedially towards the uterus. Bilateral endometriomas are seen measuring14 mm on the left and 30 mm and 19 mm on the right. Allowing for the degree of movement artefact, there appears to be an endometriotic plaque along the posterior aspect of the cervix down to and including the posterior vaginal fornix; the plaque extends to both ovaries. Bilateral thickening of the uterosacral ligaments. The colon is faecally loaded. Allowing for the degree of movement artefact, no bowel muscle invasive endometriotic deposit identified. Normal appearance of the UV fold. No bladder muscle invasive deposit. Normal distal ureters. Trace of free fluid within the pelvis. No enlarged pelvic or inguinal lymph nodes. No suspicious focal bone lesion. CONCLUSION: Deep endometriosis, as described." This finally explained all the pain and why my ovaries could not be found. Upon having the MRI results I decided to go with Mr Mabrouk and just pay out of pocket as my insurance wouldn't cover it. I had my preoperative consultation with Mr Mabrouk where he listened to all my concerns and explained the surgery plan, he sent me it in a letter too. The day of my surgery I arrived at the Spire and was well cared for bv all of the staff. When it was time for surgery I had a bit of a panic attack as I am terrified of surgery so I was crying. Mr mabrouk got on my level and assured me that he would take good care of me as did the rest of his team. I woke up from surgery and had a bit of a panic attack again mr mabrouk came to see me and explained he'd come to talk to me tomorrow about my surgery in depth and what he found but he mentioned that he did find endo and that there was some on my diaphragm. I was relatively pain free post surgery as I'd had a lot of pain killers and local anesthetic which I was grateful for. Post surgery I made sure to drink as much Peppermint tea as I could to help the gas pains. I found that if I slept upright it helped the pain. Also if you sleep with the remote for the beds in your hand you can press the buttons to readjust rather than struggle to move yourself so I'd highly recommend it. I was very sick post surgery with vomiting and the nurses at the Spire looked after me so well and eventually found something that worked to stop my nausea. I was so grateful for how kind they were. In the morning I was a lot more with it ans my catheter was starting to annoy me so I made it my mission to drink lots of tea and did pelvic floor exercises to sake my bladder up. It worked a treat and I was able to have it removed and that made me much more comfy. The physio nurse then came to see me and came me some exercises to do and told me to walk if I could every hour or so. I was up and waling as much as I could and it really helped the gas pains. Mr mabrouk then came to see me with another member of the surgical team. He had pictures of my surgery and explained that he had found a lot of endometriosis across organs including bladder and bowel, kissing ovaries that were adhered to my bowels, multiple endometriomas etc. Below is the medical report: Operation: Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis: bilateral ovarian cystectomy; excision of left uteroscaral ligament and pararectal plaque, right uterosacral ligament and retrocervical plaque, bladder peritoneal endometriosis, right pelvic sidewall endometriosis, bilateral ureterolysis, bilateral ovarian suspension, DTC diaphragmatic endometriosis. He showed me the photos and I was in disbelief at how obvious it all seemed and I couldn't believe that medical professionals didn't spot it before. I thank Mr mabrouk for believing and helping me. I was discharged soon after and everything was pretty good in terms of healing. I struggled the most with bladder sensation and rib pain from the ablation and the pulling pain from ovary suspension. My surgery was in early March and now it is May and I've healed well my periods post surgery were the easiest I've had and I don't dread then at all anymore. Mr Maboruk has given me back my life, before surgery my pain was so severe that I could not cope. I am so grateful for his compassion and expertise as I am now living a pretty normal life again.

Mr Mabrouk recently operated on me to diagnose and remove endometriosis. He also implanted a mirena coil and removed my fallopian tubes. He has a very gentle caring nature and and always took the time to listen to me, how I felt, what I wanted and why. I actually begged for a hysterectomy initially and he could have easily gone ahead with that, but instead he explained the risks and and that he may be able to help me without such extremes. We reached the agreement for the surgery above, with the option to return for hysterectomy if this doesn't help. I have felt very well informed, supported and cared for throughout my treatment with Mr Mabrouk and would definitely recommend him.

Mr Mabrouk operated on me in Sept 2020. He was a very patient and understanding surgeon who understood my apprehension due to the complications of my surgery. He advised thoroughly but never insisted I had surgery. After the operation I felt completely looked after and he was always so confident and reassuring. I felt like he was a friend rather than a surgeon as he was so personable to both me and my husband. I have recommended Mr Mabrouk to a couple of friends who were also very impressed. I would completely recommend Mr Mabrouk to anyone as he is kind, understanding and above all one of the best surgeons in his field. Thank you ~ 8 months after a total hysterectomy (with adherence) I feel like a new woman with no problems whatsoever!

Mr Mabrouk is my endometriosis consultant at Addenbrooke's Hospital. He is the first doctor who properly listened to my concerns in 26 years. He answered all my endless questions and made me feel like my opinion counted. I on the other hand felt that he was fully committed to excising all disease found. He has a very warm manner and made me feel I was in safe hands. I'm writing this 5 days post op, well aware it's early days, but despite feeling some pain where extensive endometriosis excision was done, the deep pelvic ache I've had for years is gone now, just like that. Mr Mabrouk and his team managed to conserve both my ovaries, removing an endometrioma and suspending them to stop them adhering back to my abdominal wall. He performed wide excision of all endometriosis found and a nerve sparing hysterectomy for Adenomyosis complicated by my uterus being attached to my bladder. There is a great multi disciplinary team at the Cambridge Endometriosis Endoscopic Surgery Unit now, with the required specialist skills in advanced laparoscopic surgery. I'm very grateful I've managed to have my surgery there. After my op I was on Daphne ward and was very well looked after, the nurses and other staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

I attended the A&E three times with lower abdominal pains. I was hospitalised and discharged with no diagnoses. In the following couple of weeks, my pains worsened and my first routine appointment with the Gynaecology department was booked for 3 months later. The department cancelled and rebooked my appointment a few times. I contacted the department as this was not a pain I could survive for 3 months and I asked for my MRI to be reconsidered. Once they reviewed my MRI, I was asked to come in urgently by one of the senior doctors. When I attended I had an ultrasound scan and I was told that I had lost an ovary… “likely to have e suffered a torsion whilst I was initially in pain” and either could wait for things to get better (?! if they would ever just get better) or have an urgent operation. The doctor who saw me was due to be on annual leave and had squeezed me in after reviewing my MRI. It felt as if he just wanted to go on his holiday. I was in a cold hospital room, half naked, unaware of what may be happening and the doctor carrying out my scan just casually said that I had lost an ovary! This was a very sad and shocking experience. I do not have children and it is something I look forward to in life and finding out that I had lost an ovary in the time I was in and out of the hospital was extremely frustrating. I have always had heavy periods but no doctor has ever investigated it further. I had had a scan which showed mini cysts a year before and my GP had said that this was all normal. The doctor at the hospital introduced me to the emergency evening team who were happy to operate me rather "go in and remove the lost ovary". I asked to have an emergency operation but not with the evening team. I wanted to be booked in for the day surgery. I was extremely lucky because my operation was booked in with Dr Mohamed Mabrouk for the next morning. I had not met Dr Mabrouk but I had previously heard from endometriosis patients talking about him in the ward whilst I was initially hospitalised for a week. They were talking about how he is an amazing doctor and truly a specialist. In the morning of the operation, Dr Mabrouk came and introduced himself to me. I told him all of my concerns. I told him I did not want to lose an ovary. He was very different to all the other doctors I had previously met in the A&E and the wards (which was probably about 8-10 doctors ranging from general surgeons to Gynae's). He listened to all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. He assured me that he is Gynaecologist and that his job is to recover and save as much of the productive system as possible. He told me all the details of what he will do and any scenarios he may face. He said if the ovary is there and there is any chance to save it he would save every possible part. He explained the worst case scenario, the best case scenario and all the possible outcomes from one end of the scale to the other. He really assured me that I can trust him and that he would do his best to preserve my ovaries. When I came out of the operation, he came to see me in the ward about an hour after I woke up. This also assured me that he really cared for his patients. He had saved my ovary, in fact there was a large cyst on my left ovary and a burst cyst in the douglas pouch. He explained everything in detail to me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis. He had carried out an extensive operation and his assistance did not end there. I suffered a heavy bleed a week after the operation and was taken to A&E; I was told that this was my period probably induced by the operation as the body can sometimes go in to shock. I was able to speak to Mr Mabrouk on the telephone and in person. He continued to support me and answer my questions. He had wondered if my endometriosis had caused any damage to my bowels and I had a colposcopy. He is so great that he called to give me my colposcopy results during lockdown and checked on my progress. He is definitely to be trusted. In the 7 months I have been under the care of Addenbrokes hospital Gynae department, Dr Mabrouk is definitely the doctor I trust. I would recommend him any Gynae patients. For me, he made a miracle happen. He has great knowledge, he listens and he cares. He is a fabulous doctor.

I strongly recommend Mr Mabrouk, for the two most important things you want in a doctor: 1. A compassionate and thorough approach to the care of patients, and 2. Top-notch expertise and skill. I was diagnosed with a 9cm ovarian cyst that had twisted, which needed to be removed urgently. I had a history of two Caesarean-sections and a horrific uterine rupture. Because of the large size of the cyst, and the likely scarring and adhesion from previous trauma, I was told categorically, by another gynaecologist, that I needed to have open surgery. I ended up having a successful keyhole procedure with Mr Mabrouk. I know nothing about his field, but I get the impression that he is renowned for his skill in laparoscopic surgery (two other doctors told me this on separate occasions). My recovery from the operation was nothing short of miraculous, especially compared to the consistently terrible experiences I’ve had in the past. My recovery was also a lot better than that of an acquaintance who was operated by a different doctor, even though she had a less complicated version of my procedure. I suffered very little discomfort and was almost back to normal after two weeks. So, I lucked out on having been treated by such a brilliant surgeon. It is noteworthy that whilst Mr Mabrouk felt that laparoscopy was feasible in my case, he was very focused on my safety and was careful not to over-promise. Before the operation, he explained to me that he could not be sure what procedure I would end up having, until he had inserted a camera through a small incision and was able to assess which was the safest way to remove the cyst. To cover any contingencies, he was assisted in the theatre by Mr Gerald Hackett, who is another great doctor. Lastly, I am touched by how Mr Mabrouk took the time to check on me after the operation, to make sure I was ok and to answer my questions about after care, etc. This is after the Covid-19 crisis had set off, so he was even busier than normal. In case you wondered, this was not because I went through the private healthcare route. I can say this because I had private treatments in the past, and Mr Mabrouk and Mr Hackett really stood out in their communications and attitude. So, Mr Mabrouk is five stars out of five for everything you wish to find in your doctor.

Mr Mabrouk has given me the quality of life and the chance to have a family which is something I thought I would never have. Mr Mabrouk started my initial consult by acknowledging my pain and apologising on behalf of the many healthcare professionals who have dismissed this prior to being referred to him- it was from this first sentence that I knew he would be able to help me. Mr Mabrouk showed empathy, compassion, respect and had brilliant communication skills throughout my treatment. Appointments were scheduled in a timely manner and he even called me to follow up on any questions I had or to check I was ok before he went on leave. He was responsive when I needed him to be and went out of his way to liaise with the fertility consultants when decisions were needed regarding support. I had severe endometriosis involving my ureter, bowel and nerves. My surgery took 8 hours and required input from Bowel, Urology, Oncology and both Endo surgeons. Mr Mabrouk oversaw the whole surgery and was in the theatre with me prior to me being put to sleep. This really helped to keep me calm given that I knew I was going to have a long and complex surgery. Recovery has been hard physically and mentally but I have been reassured all throughout my treatment that I have had Mr Mabrouk to go to should I have any concerns. During my 2 week hospital stay Mr Mabrouk saw me at least once if not twice a day. This was of huge comfort to me. Having many doctors come each morning from different specialties can be hard particularly when they may have varying opinions. Mr Mabrouk helped me to understand my situation as a whole and followed up with urology and bowel where concerns arose. Mr Mabrouk is a highly skilled surgeon who clearly has a passion and drive in supporting and treating women with endometriosis. We need more consultants like him! I cannot thank Mr Mabrouk enough for the support he has given me over the last 6 months and for the time he invests in research and his drive to build an endometriosis centre at Addenbrookes. He clearly cares! Mr Mabrouk was employed by Addenbrookes at just the right time for me and for this I count myself as very lucky. I hope other women get to have the positive experience I have had when suffering from such a horrible disease. Thank you Mr Mabrouk, I will be eternally grateful for all you have done for me!!

Mr Mohamed Mabrouk was very confident in his approach and gained my confidence from when I met him, which is a credit to him and his personality you can’t learn this. His communication skills were good, he spoke in a language that I could understand and also my wife who is a nurse understood, he broke things down to explain what was happening and even showed me what was happen by drawing a picture and what they needed to do, so I fully understood. When I went down for my operation he was there smiling and happy, and fully of confidence reassuring me. He listened to my concerns and I explained if needed to do anything different he had my consent and he ensured the the other consultant was also away of this. Following the operation he visited me daily and continued to explained the healing process and was reassuring which helped with my confidence to get out of bed and get better quicker. Also I was a smoker but following the first consultation. Mr Mabrouk advised me to give up explaining the reason it would be a good idea and how it would effect my blood cell, it made me think and I stopped smoking and continue to remain a non smoker. I want to thank Mr Mabrouk for everything and making me feel safe and looked after. Kind regards Julie Mansfield

Mr Mabrouk was the kindest man when I was feeling in such a fragile place. He explained my diagnosis and required procedure with care and diligence. I felt confident in his care and am very grateful.

I recently moved to addenbrookes after I wasn’t taken seriously regarding a recent diagnosis of endometriosis. It was the best decision I’ve made. I had a brilliant experience with Mr Mabrouk, he listened to what I was telling him and has been very thorough in diagnosing the problem. Throughout the process he explained everything and how he wanted to proceed, whilst ensuring I was comfortable. I also receive any updates by post, which is great as I never had any correspondence previously. I now feel I’m in the right place and receiving the appropriate care, which is a great relief. I’d definitely recommend.

I can't express how grateful I am to be a patient under Mr Mabrouk. He is a very kind, understanding, honest and reassuring specialist that genuinely cares. I recently had endometriosis surgery performed by himself and I really appreciated being informed of all the risks and potiental surgery procedures beforehand. It turned out I had a lot more endometriosis than expected but during surgery he was able to remove nearly all of it. Although recovering at the time of writing this, I can now look forward to a future with less endometriosis. I am forever grateful for his expertise and help.

As a patient of Dr. Mabrouk, I was very pleased with how he handled my case. For someone who was about to undergo a complex procedure for the first time, I was very nervous about the whole thing. However, after my first meeting with him, I felt completely at ease. He was incredibly caring and gave me all the information I needed regarding my surgery. I appreciated how he gave me a detailed breakdown of the procedure and the risks involved, as well as answering all of my concerns in a professional and reassuring manner. I feel very fortunate to have been under his care, and would highly recommend him to anyone. Thankfully I'm currently on a very good road to recovery!

I was surrounded by dedicated and caring doctors not least of whom were Mr Mabrouk and Mr Baldwin - and their wider medical team who went above and beyond to give me the best medical care possible. In the build-up to my operation, during and afterwards, the care and attention given to me was without exception, excellent. I couldn't recommend a better medical team. Mr Mabrouk and Mr Baldwin were both approachable, highly skilled and clearly talented and well informed in their fields - I would confidently put my life in their hands again if the need arose.

In the decade or more that I have been under various Gynaecological clinic care at Addenbrookes hospital this is the first consultant who has explained everything clearly and taken the time to listen to my concerns. This should be the way all consultants should treat their patients. Thank you for treating me like a human being.

Mr Mabrouk was a great consultant. He went through my history in detail, asking me questions previous consultants hadn't. He explained that his care would be personal to me and my lifestyle, choices and my future plans. He explained every step carefully to me and gave me instant results (through examination and ultrasounds) explaining what they meant. He was calm, caring and at no point did I feel rushed or pressured. I left feeling fully informed as to my next steps and all my choices. I would highly recommend Mr Mohamed Mabrouk.

Amazing - extremely professional - gained my trust immediately -explained the procedure incredibly well and I imagine he adapts his explanation to suit the needs of his Pts - pain free procedure - feedback immediately after the procedure, which I valued - he could not have improved the service he gave

Very clear explanation in advance of the treatment. Careful and considerate. Managed the procedure quickly and efficiently. Successful treatment process. Only improvement would be to communicate with the patient a bit more when using the speculum/at the earlier stages of the procedure so that the patient isn't surprised by the procedure.
