Mr Nana Osei is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon based in London who specialises in back, leg, neck, and arm pain. His areas of expertise include spinal surgery, sciatica, lumbar discectomy/decompression, spinal stenosis, sacrum and coccyx disorders, spondylosis, epidural infiltration, radiofrequency, and cervical disc replacement.
Mr Osei has specialised in spinal surgery and conditions for over 20 years, prioritising pain management and reduction, using minimally invasive techniques, and with a view to enable patients to return to their daily activity as quickly as possible. His patients benefit from the opportunities to pool the knowledge of many different specialists and multi-disciplinary teams. Mr Osei has a demonstrated commitment to excellence in orthopaedic spinal surgery, with an MBBS from the University of London, and both a BA and an MA from the University of Oxford. He undertook his basic surgical training on the Cambridge rotation and his higher specialist training on the Pervicall Pott rotation, and also holds fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Osei has also been awarded the renowned Charles Manning Prize (2005) and Herbert Seddon Prize (2004).
Notably, Mr Osei was awarded three prestigious fellowship awards: a spine fellowship from the Royal National Orthopaedic and Great Ormond Street Hospital, a visiting scholarship to The Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and a neurosurgical observership at The Western Hospital. His comprehensive background also includes formal training in endoscopic discectomy, as well as complex lumbar spine surgery at Broomfield Hospital and advanced minimally invasive spinal surgery at the Royal London Hospital.
With a wealth of experience, Mr Osei extensive tenure includes consultant roles in a number of private orthopaedic spinal practices. He is presently a medical advisory committee representative, and also served as the NICE lead spinal clinician at Luton and Dunstable Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 2012 to 2017. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Mr Osei’s expertise extends to the academic sphere as well, and he has published widely in high-impact scientific journals and he has presented at national and international conferences on fusion/fusionless spinal surgery and dynamic MRI scanning.
