Saw Mr Lusty back in October as my hip was so painful, he went through all of my options in great detail, and I decided to go ahead with total hip replacement. I am now six weeks post op and am totally pain free, just need to build the muscle back up. When I had the dressing taken off the wound, I was surprised at how neat it was, the nurse said they all love dealing with Mr Lusty’s patients as there is never a problem with the wound healing. I will need to have the other hip replaced in the near future and will definitely be going back to Mr Lusty for that. Would highly recommend him. Pauline

Mr Lusty was an absolute star in every capacity of my dealings with him. During the initial consultation stages he advised me of all of my options other than surgery. A few of these we explored. All were explained in detail so I knew every possible outcome. His ‘bedside manner’ was kind, attentive and very thorough. I finally opted for the option he offered of a unicompartmental knee replacement which happened 6 weeks ago. From the minute of arrival on the ward, every member of the team were just excellent. Mr Lusty popped in to see me pre surgery to talk me through everything one last time. My surgery went very well and I am delighted with the outcome. He used internal stitches that dissolved away and the main wound glued closed. The outcome is remarkable and the scar is hard to see. I’m now 6 weeks post surgery and 80% of the pain has gone. I am back to 10,000 steps a day and can walk up and down stairs now pain free. My biggest recommendation is to work hard on Rehab/physio. The more work put in the better the results. If and when my other knee needs to be done I will only have Mr Lusty to carry out the work. Mr Lusty I am in your debt. Thank you so much

Mr Lusty was recommended to me by a friend who had a hip replacement two years ago by him and she was singing his praises. My initial consultation included a lateral x-Ray which he then proceeded to explain thoroughly and then advised my options. He made me feel comfortable and at ease and covered everything from my admission through to post operative care. I would totally recommend Patrick Lusty.

So many people we know have had knee and hip replacements done by Mr. Lusty all said how pleased they were with the outcome and would definitely recommend seeing him if ever you needed such an operation. An MRI scan showed I needed a left hip replacement, I made an appointment to see Mr. Lusty and was delighted by his caring reassuring way, and full explanation as to what would happen.Following this first consultation I then met the rest of his team for pre op assessment blood tests etc. all lovely people. On the day of my operation the ward staff were very reassuring and made me feel relaxed. Mr. Lusty checked on my progress every day I was in Hospital always ready to answer any questions or concerns I had. By doing the exercises I was able to walk with crutches on the day after the operation pain free ,all the physiotherapist were helpful and encouraging as were all the ward staff. Once home and continuing with exercises I was soon down to one crutch then crutch free after four weeks. I have now had my 6week post op appointment with Mr Lusty all is well and I am so grateful to him and all of his team at The Wellesley

I had a total hip replacement performed by Mr lusty about 7 weeks ago. He was confidence inspiring from first visit to last, with an efficient, no nonsense approach. I was walking without any aids less than 3 weeks after surgery, am virtually pain free now and walking 30-40 minutes a day with minimal discomfort. My care throughout has been exemplary and I would happily recommend both Mr Lusty and Spire Wellesley to anyone.

Patrick Lusty is an amazing consultant/surgeon. Had a full knee replacement 6 weeks ago. Throughout the appointments, before and after surgery, Mr Lusty explained truthfully and very professionally, every step of the way. I have many health conditions but he put my mind and my family, at ease. I knew I was in safe hands. The procedure went without any hitches and every day after my surgery, he would pop in to make sure all was well. 6 weeks on I am now walking without crutches and can do many tasks. Having been recommended by others who have had excellent service and results from Mr Lusty I made an appointment to see him with a view to having a replacement knee for my right leg. Both knees have been painful for many years but I have resisted having surgery due to a fear of operations. From the onset he gave me full details of what the surgery would involve and what exercises he would expect me to do afterwards. I was extremely anxious, but his manner certainly put my mind at rest. I paid privately to have the surgery on the 15th January 2024 in Wellesley Hospital and the service that I received there was excellent. After the operation Mr Lusty, along with various nurses and physiotherapists came into my room regularly throughout my 3 day stay, they were all very encouraging which really did help. Once I was home, each day I did the exercises that Mr Lusty recommended and I am absolutely delighted with my new knee as it has healed perfectly and is now working 100%. The operation has changed my life completely and I do not have any fears about getting my other knee replaced later this year. I had my 6 week follow up appointment with Mr Lusty and he was delighted with the results, even saying that I should be proud of myself because the exercises did play a huge part in my excellent recovery. I appreciate all of the excellent service that I have had and would thoroughly recommend Mr Lusty to anybody thinking of having a knee or hip operation.

I was thorough in my search for an orthopaedic surgeon to carry out a total hip replacement and was impressed by Mr Patrick Lusty’s profile. From the very first consultation he exhibited experience, confidence and humility which was extended throughout my procedure. My experience was first class and credit should be given to Mr Patrick Lusty and his entire team both during the operation and aftercare at the Spire Wellesley hospital. From my first meeting with.Mr.Lusty I felt he was entirely honest and straight forward.Diagnisis was quick clear and accurate. Mr Lusty is an excellent orthopaedic surgeon, who is both professional and caring. He explained everything in great detail before and after my hip replacement. I felt completely confident in his abilities and was not disappointed. As six weeks post op I am back being able to do everything I want to. On my first consultation with him he said that he aims to perform a " forgettable hip replacement" meaning when everything is healed it would be difficult to remember which one it was. I can honestly say even after such a short time I feel he has achieved just that!! I would certainly recommend him without hesitation to family, friends and anyone needing a hip replacement.

Having decided to push ahead with a possible knee replacement, I sort out a surgeon who I thought would be good for me. I chose Mr Lusty from a number of surgeons operating out of my local Spire Hospital due to his well informed and upbeat personal profile. I am so pleased with the advice, treatment and aftercare given by Mr Lusty that I definitely give him 5 stars all round. He listened to my initial worries and took the process forward slowly, which I found very reassuring. During my operation and my short stay in hospital, he was very clear and concise on what I would be having done and what my long term gaols should be, and he was firm and definite on my rehab. I was requiring a total knee replacement for my right knee which following x-rays was found to be 9 degrees out of alignment. My wife recommended Mr Lusty to me when I was looking for an Orthopaedic Surgeon as she had worked at Southend Hospital and knew of his reputation as one of the top surgeons there. After my first consultation with Mr Lusty I knew that I had made the right decision with my choice of surgeon. He was knowledgeable, confident in his ability and immediately put me at ease. He listened to my explanation of the problem with my knee as I saw it and explained carefully the options open to me. On making the decision to go ahead with the surgery I was amazed that a date was set only a week after the first practical date that was possible for me and that date never changed. The operation and my short stay in hospital proceeded without a hitch. I was well looked after throughout and my recovery since has been unbelievable. I barely used the crutches supplied, going straight to two walking sticks, then one and then none in pretty short order. Several visits to physiotherapy sped my recovery further and I played my first 18 holes of golf just six weeks and four days after the operation. The new knee is fantastic and has never given me any cause for concern. Whenever in and around the hospital talking to patients, ex patients or staff, if you say that your surgeon was Mr Lusty, the usual reply is "Oh, he's the best." I couldn't agree more.

I can’t imagine being treated better, The experience wasn’t one I was looking forward to but I was treated so well and made very comfortable. Post operative care has been second to none. I wasn't surprised to be told that I needed a hip replacement. I had experienced a rapid decline in my range of movement and driving distances was becoming very uncomfortable. Having received my consultation with Mr Lusty it wasn't a difficult decision to go ahead and have him perform the operation. Everything was explained fully and despite never having had an operation since early childhood, I had every confidence in him. It also helped that several people that we spoke to, knew of or had been treated by Mr Lusty and none had anything but praise for him. The Physiotherapy team had me up on crutches the afternoon of the procedure. The following day I was up and down some stairs. Mr Lusty checked on me post operation and was very reassuring. The medication I was prescribed by him upon discharge kept me pain free. His skill as a surgeon meant that there were no stitches to be removed and the wound healed quickly with no problems. Now I am six weeks post-operation and I glad that I put my trust in him. I am pain and discomfort free, can walk a fair distance without walking aids and can look forward to resuming my life to the full. Thank you!

Mr Lusty carried out a left total knee replacement for me in January. He discussed this procedure thoroughly with me in clinic beforehand and I had complete confidence in his abilities, mostly due to his terrific reputation reputation in his field. The surgery went well, I saw him several times post operatively in hospital when he was encouraging and reassuring and at my six week checkup he discharged me as everything was going well. Before the surgery he stressed the importance of pre-and post-operative exercises and I believe this has also been an important factor in my recovery so far. I also appreciated the fact that he was very honest in advising that it is not the easiest of surgeries to deal with, which was reassuring in those early days when it certainly wasn’t much fun! He discharged me from hospital with what I expect was a tried and tested medication regime and I can honestly say this made the pain and discomfort very bearable. To be honest I can’t think of anything that could have been done by Mr Lusty to improve my care and I am very grateful to him for that fact. The nursing team at the Spire Wellesley were also kind and caring during my stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Lusty to anyone considering this surgery, I believe he has a tremendous gift which his patients are privileged to benefit from.

I suffered only very minor aches and pains afterwards and was walking without any aids within three weeks, and seven weeks post op., am fully mobile and walking two miles a day, something l haven't done in quite a few years. l put my rapid recovery down to the skill of this surgeon.

If it weren't for him I would have a very poor quality of life as I would have been too frightened to go through with the operations without his calm manner, patience and excellent way of describing the processes step by step. If you are reading this review you already have a problem and are simply looking for the best surgeon to correct it. I have one simple piece of advice - don't look any further, Mr Lusty is your man, don't waste any more time simply book an appointment with him - the man is a genius. I had had a problem for a number of years which various physio's had told me with a groin issue and treated it as such. My latest physio was of the opinion that something else was wrong and in December sent me to a sports medicine specialist. After an MRI he diagnosed that I had advanced arthritis in my hip and gave me a cortisone injection. This lasted just over a month and what happened next was like my hip falling over a cliff. By the time I saw Mr Lusty for my initial consultation I was in constant pain, my sleep was non existence (if I got 20 minutes deep sleep a night per my Garmin watch that was a good night), I had a bad limp, was unable to walk any distance - I had given up walking the dogs as it was a chore note enjoyable, I was unable to play golf and was struggling to get my pants, trousers, shoes and socks on (on some occasions I had to ask my wife to do it). I had also got to the stage where the joint was beginning to lock which was unbelievably painful. When I saw Mr Lusty he had access to the MRI scans and after an examination and x-ray he advised me that I needed a total hip replacement and booked me in. The operation was due to take place on Wednesday 27 April and he suggested that I would be in hospital until the Saturday. I was taken down for the operation at 3pm on the Wednesday afternoon and was back in my room by 6.30pm. A physio came round later in the evening and got me to stand up with the aid of a zimmer frame. The physio's came round again Thursday morning and after seeing me use the zimmer frame gave me some crutches. I was able to walk to the end of the ward, down and up the stairs and back to the room. Mr Lusty came round Thursday afternoon and after an examination advised that everything was fine and I could go home. I have followed the instructions of Mr Lusty and the physio's to the letter - including sleeping flat on my back for 6 weeks, doing the exercises at least 5 times a day and getting out and walking - first with the crutches and then quickly without. I saw Mr Lusty yesterday - 9 June - being 6 weeks after my operation and he said everything was fine and signed me off. I can go back to the gym, albeit it there are limitations on what I am allowed to do, I can start driving again and basically I can get on with enjoying life again. Golf will follow in a few months but it is so long since I last played what is a couple more months. I have no pain whatsoever from my hip and between 14 May, 2022 and 8 June, 2022 I walked 100 miles - I think I have given the hip a good test. I now get between 90 and 150 minutes deep sleep every night (again the same watch recording it) am able to put my own pants, trousers socks and shoes on an am enjoying walking the dogs once again. An added bonus of all the walking whilst I have been recovering is that I have lost just over a stone. One other point to make - ignore what you see on the internet - yes like everyone else I did the google searches and was horrified by the scars that I saw. All I can say is that my incision is just under three inches and I understand it was stitched on the inside but glued on the outside. I was also pretty pain free from the moment I came round. I can't tell you how much Mr Lusty has changed my life for the better. So, as I said at the start - don't waste your time looking any further, pick up your phone and book an appointment to see Mr Lusty - I can assure you you will not be disappointed. Chris

Over the last few months my left knee had deteriorated to the point when walking even a few yards out of the house left me in complete agony. I knew that the current waiting time for surgery by the NHS was at least two years. I just couldn't live like this. I was recommended to Mr Lusty, and went to see him at the end of last year. I found that Mr Lusty listened intently to my problems, and couldn't have been kinder and more reassuring, especially important to me as I am very nervous of medical procedures. But he did put everything into perspective, and gave me a completely realistic assessment of my condition. He recommended a total left knee replacement. He also advised me that because I told him my husband had recently undergone major heart surgery, it would be better to wait a couple of months rather than us both being incapacitated together. And so on March 23 I entered the Wellesley Hospital to undergo surgery. Four weeks after coming home on March 26 I was able to walk without crutches around my neighbourhood for half a mile - with very little pain. Now I can walk for at least a mile, and go up and down the stairs in the normal way! I must also add that Mr Lusty's post-operative dedication and reassurance are second to none. He went out of his way to ensure that my "getting back to normal" was going to happen, and gave me much help with exercises and other post-operative information. He went "over the top" to put me on the right road, and there is no way I could have wished for better treatment. I am eternally grateful to Mr Lusty and would recommend him to anybody.

At my consultation, there was no hesitation by Mr. Lusty that I should have my hip replaced. After dialogue with the anaesthesiologist I opted to have an epidural and only felt a short sharp pain momentarily. Following that, Mr Lusty's team were professional, friendly and reassuring. I was given ear phones and chose my music to listen to. I was given a sedative just to make me sleepy and it was the most relaxing experience. The only thing I felt was some movement I guess when the hip was being moved. Contrary to previous reports, I didn't hear any noise, or felt any other discomfort but just enjoyed the experience. Following surgery, I had a couple cups of tea in the recovery room and was then taken back to my room where I enjoyed another cup of tea and a sandwich. The first night was uncomfortable only due to the epidural wearing off but was given pain killers. The next few nights I slept well. After having constant pain and not being able to go for walks or taking ages to put my shoes on, there is no pain and I no longer walk hunched, which I hadn't been aware of . There really isn't anything to worry about, Mr Lusty and his team are professional, reassuring and since my operation I can now enjoy being active again.

I have recently had ACL reconstruction performed by Mr Patrick Lusty on my right knee, required due to a football injury. From the moment I first met Mr Lusty, he put my concerns at ease by being direct and specific with his analysis and explanation about my condition, the treatment and the recovery period I would have to undertake to get back to playing football. I am now at 3 months since the operation and from prehab, through to surgery and now the recovery everything has gone better than expected. There is still a way to go until I'm back on the pitch but without Mr Lusty's help and guidance I don't think it would have been as smooth as it has. I would recommend Mr Lusty to everyone.

Mr Patrick Lusty is a wonderful surgeon and very caring, I’m so thankful that he has done two of my total knee replacement surgeries!! I’ve had three but unfortunately I didn’t discover Mr Lusty until I had a bad result from another surgeon. Mr Lusty came to my rescue and now I can walk my dog again for miles . I had a total right hip replacement on 13th September 2021. I could not walk far at all and was in considerable pain. I had been on a waiting list for over 2 years with the NHS and had to pay privately in the end. It was worth it to have a quality of life returned to me. Since the operation I have continued to get better and can now walk long distances and go up and down stairs with no problem. I would recommend Mr. Lusty completely.

I had complete left knee replacement surgery carried out on 6th October 2021 by Mr Patrick Lusty. I can not say enough good things about Mr Lusty- an absolutely brilliant surgeon. His pre and post consultations were brilliant as well as the surgery itself. His instructions/ communication skills are fabulous and at all times I felt very comfortable , confident and very reassured at each interaction with him. Nothing was too much trouble for him and if you follow Mr Lusty´s guidance you will come out the other side of surgery feeling like a "new person". From my first meeting with Mr Lusty I was put at ease by his calming manner and obvious professionalism. After my first appointment and meeting Mr. Lusty, I was given the confidence to go ahead with my hip replacement which had left me limited in my day to day activities for three years. I had a full right hip replacement performed by Mr Lusty on 02-12-20 at the Wellsley hospital as an NHS patient. By the following day I was up and walking around using only one walking stick as a support, all my previous arthritic pain had gone. Now some seven weeks later I can honestly say that Mr Lusty surgical skill has transformed my movement and I am now regularly walking five miles at a time with no problems.I can thoroughly recommend Mr Lusty if you need a hip replacement and will not hesitate in seeking his assistance if and when I need my other hip replaced. Just imagine having a Total Hip Replacement on the 28 November 2020 and walking out of Hospital, pain free and without the need for any level of support whatever on the afternoon of the 29th November 2020. I've just had a hip replacement at the Wellesley and was hugely impressed with the whole process and level of treatment by Mr Lusty and the nurses. I had the spinal block anaesthetic which was brilliant, and I left hospital within 2 days. The zoom physio was good and I stopped walking with sticks completely by 4 weeks. I'm now walking at a good pace for an hour without any pain. It's totally changed the quality of life for me, and I now look forward to taking the dogs out rather than it being a chore.

Mr Lusty has changed my life! I had a total hip replacement on 3rd of October and the removal o f three screws. From day one I was able to walk a little and had very little pain.I am so pleased I took recommendations and chose him to perform the surgery. I saw him a total of 4 times whilst I was in hospital although, I was only in for 2 days! If I needed surgery, in the future, I would want him to do it, I cannot recommend this surgeon highly enough! Having met Mr Patrick Lusty at the Wellesley hospital. From my first meeting he filed me with trust in his ability to remove one internal rod which was implanted in my leg nearly 20yrs ago after an RTA. I am new to this site, but I must make a comment about Mr.Lusty.After many years of pain he replaced first my right , and eighteen months later my left knees.The last operation being about six years ago.My life is now totally changed. I have been retired approximately four years now ,but I play football again, and go to the gym,also play badminton, all of which Is because of my new knees , with no pain whatsoever. To say that he’s been a lifesaver to me is an understatement. I have recommended him to several others and they have all had the same results. I had a right hip replacement 6 weeks ago. Very apprehensive but needed to be done. I shocked one of the night nurses walking down the ward at 2am in the morning after my operation. I was discharged that day. My recovery was excellent. I am now pain free. I attribute all to the excellent skill of Mr Lusty. He made me feel very comfortable in his care and kept me well informed. Mr Lusty undertook a total hip replacement for me. I have a pacemaker which can be affected by certain diathermy apparatus during surgery. I was totally impressed to learn that Mr Lusty had consulted with the cardiologist about this issue prior to my surgery. My opinion is that Mr Lusty is a perfectionist with great attention to detail. Two weeks after discharge I had a slight problem with an allergic reaction to the wound dressing and as a result was seen immediately by Mr Lusty himself who prescribed treatment and saw me every few days until the problem was resolved. My new hip is amazing, after two weeks I was walking with no sticks and was pain free. I am glad Mr Lusty is young

I received a total hip replacement on 3rd July 2019, was up and out of bed same day and home the following day. When I met Mr. Lusty I was hugely impressed by his professionalism, high energy, great focus and caring approach to the problems I was experiencing. In my opinion he is surely right at the top of this field in knowledge, patient care and surgical skills. My mobility was so poor I could see I had muscle wastage on my right side and I was housebound through pain and inability to stand up straight. I believe his wonderful, precision surgery has corrected what would have been a life limiting disability. I researched consultants before I went to see Mr. lusty and will always be grateful my good sense and good fortune took me to him. If you need this procedure or are contemplating it, this is the surgeon to go to.

Mr Lusty carried out revision of canulated screws and a total left hip replacement in March and after 5 months, I have been discharged. I fractured my hip and it was repaired with screws and after some 10 months unfortunately developed necrosis, which meant the bone had died due to lack of blood supply. I had developed leg shortening which made me walk with a bad limp, in fact most of my time was spent resting, due to the the pain I cannot stress how much this operation has improved my life, from immediately after the surgery. I had a general anaesthetic, due to the revision of the screws, but still recovered well and was discharged home on crutches. I had expected severe pain, but am delighted to say that it did not happen. I was advised Paracetamol and codeine, but did not take the latter very often. I did the Physio exercises 3 times a day and progressed to walking with 1 stick extremely quickly. I found the Paracetamol helped and the exercises became easier within a week or so. Prior to my fracture I was at the gym and doing cardiac rehab exercises. This came to a stop with the fracture, but now I am back to walking, all be it a slower pace than before, but then I am an older lady and never ran a marathon before, so that's fine. Mr Lusty, is pleasant, easy to talk to and inspires confidence. He takes the time to listen to you and makes everything sound so straight forward, he has a good sense of humour and is a very pleasant man to deal with. I have only ever heard praise of him from the ward staff. I must also mention his team, who take the time to explain everything fully after the operation. This makes the whole experience much easier.

Just seven weeks after my total knee replacement I was extremely pleased to have been signed off by Mr Lusty. I am sure, like many I was quite apprehensive about the knee replacement procedure. However, just seven weeks following the operation I was walking well without the need of supporting walking sticks. Opting for a spinal injection did I feel assist in recovery immediately after the operation and after just a couple of nights in hospital I was ready to return home. For the first few weeks there was a need to continue taking the pain killing drugs which enabled me to continue the important exercises required to get movement back into the knee joint. Within weeks though, I felt comfortable taking just a few paracetamol as-and-when I felt the need. As they say, there is no gain without pain and the importance of making a big effort with exercising certainly paid off. After just four weeks the Physiotherapist felt I was OK to start driving again and after six weeks walking without the aid of a stick. There is little doubt that Mr Lusty and his team are fully abreast of this knee replacement procedure. Their approach to this operation is extremely professional and in my case I find the outcome rather remarkable. I was and am surprised how quickly my new knee is able to fully support weight without any real pain. If asked, were there any issues? Well yes, night times were difficult to begin with as the muscles etc felt very bruised and finding a comfortable sleeping position wasn't easy. Have I been lucky? Maybe; but I have tried to continue the exercises which I feel have played a key role in my recovery... exercises after which, often required the regular application of a large bag of frozen peas to reduce any swelling, yes the bags of peas worked well! Having had a successful outcome it is difficult to say what improvements might be made to improve the care I received. The operation and immediate aftercare I received from Mr Lusty and is team has been a credit to their skills and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who requires knee surgery. I would add that for some, the four sessions with the physio might not be enough. In particular where some encouragement is required to make the required effort to continue with important regular exercises. For some the Physio sessions might be seen as a motivator and confidence booster. I feel that in most cases four sessions at one week intervals would not be sufficient. Before the operation I couldn’t walk without great pain and I couldn’t sleep-and being a primary school teacher both these factors were interfering with my ability to do my job! From my first consultation with Mr Lusty he was honest, kind and professional. He also has a sense of humour which I greatly appreciated! I had a spinal anaesthetic and my recovery afterwards was better and quicker than I could ever have imagined- I spent 1 night in hospital and was walking with 1 stick when I went home. Mr P. Lusty, has been my knee consultant for over a decade. I have two ( left and right) carefree new knees. One 1yr old and the other 9 weeks old. I am in Ortho terms a young patient 55yrs hence my longevity with Mr Lusty. His attention to detail and perfection is outstanding. I had the misfortune to suffer a stitch abscess and Mr Lusty acted immediately ! Resolving the issue without compromise. He is passionate about perfection, which at times can drive you mad but the prove is in the construction. I am now looking forward to life, and to walking on sand. I had a serious fall and fractured my left hip very badly. I was operated on my Mr Lusty at Southend Hospital on the NHS. Mr Lusty decided the best option was to give me a total hip replacement as the damage was so severe. It is now 11 weeks on and I would like to thank him for making an extremely upsetting and scary experience far less traumatic. He made me feel safe and explained the whole procedure very clearly to me.. He professionalism is second to none yet there is a kind, compassionate side to him. My scar is extremely neat and I have made good recovery (particularly it was a trauma as well as a hip replacement). I would have no doubt in recommending him. He is a highly skilled, knowledgable surgeon. Everyone I have spoken to who have helped me through this procedure have only the utmost respect for Mr Lusty and I totally agree and appreciate how lucky I was that he was on duty that day. Mr Lusty is simply the best. His expertise is second to none. I never dreamed that a total knee replacement could have been done with so little post op pain! The whole experience from initial consultation to discharge and physio has been wonderful. Mr Lusty gave me so much confidence to go ahead with the surgery. Simple explanations of the poor condition of both my knees and no nonsense straight talking about what to expect. Within 48hrs of the op I was walking with only 1 stick and after only 1 week I could walk with no sticks at all. I was very apprehensive about having a spinal block anaesthetic, but I was put at ease and helped to decided it was the best option. They were right. spinal block is so much better than a general anaesthetic. No sickness and I was drinking tea within an hour of surgery in the recovery bay. and eating a sandwich when back on the ward. I had to retire early from a very physical job because of the pain in both knees. I could not stand long enough to do my garden, cook, do housework or even walk in the park with my grandchildren . 6 weeks post op and I feel like iv'e got my life back. What a joy to be able to stand for more than 5 mins! Now I can't wait to have the other knee done and improve my mobility even more. Mr Lusty has quite literally given me back my life. Some years ago Mr Lusty did a knee repair for me and I was up and about the next day. At the time he did suggest that I would need a new hip but like all people I thought I was indestructible! After some years of increasing pain and diminishing ability to go about ordinary tasks I was lucky enough to have a referral back to Mr. Lusty. From the first meeting Mr Lusty took time to explain the whole procedure, risks involved and proposed outcomes not from some rattled off script but genuinely tailored to me. Unlike other surgeons there was direct eye contact, a hint of humour and total confidence that he would do everything possible to make life better for me. A previous surgeon had terrified me with a throw away remark about arthritis in my spine. As my mother is severely disabled with the same condition I was devastated to hear that news. Mr Lusty immediately told me that although he could not cure the arthritis in my spine the new hip would undoubtedly help relieve some of the back pain I was experiencing. I was admitted on a Monday and operated on the same afternoon. A spinal anaesthetic was administered. Much better and quicker to recover from than the total knock out anaesthetic. The whole team were dedicated to making me feel relaxed and confident. I very much enjoyed chatting to the anaesthetist during the operation. I was up later that day with the help of the nursing staff and by the following Wednesday morning was ready to go home. I did abandon the codeine given to me as I found it too strong. I have used paracetamol in diminishing amounts since and only when I felt it necessary. Within a week walking aids were abandoned and I was managing to get around with confidence. My back pain had largely disappeared and the joy of being able to walk without terrible grinding pain was miraculous. The two follow up visits to the physio Steve were very helpful and reassuring. I am now in fine fettle and have started joining my husband to walk our lively dog. Seven weeks last Monday since the operation and last evening celebrated with a walk up the hill with the dog. I am 67 this year but feel that number is irrelevant! I plan to walk the hills for years to come and at last play with my grandchildren again. I will be forever grateful to such a talented surgeon who has made this possible. Thank you Mr Lusty.

Patrick Lusty has given me a new lease of life having replaced both my hips. He is a fantastic surgeon, very professional and his expertise is second to none. He was recommended to me by a physiotherapist I was attending when I was getting help with the pain in both my thighs. I asked her if she was to have hip replacements which orthopaedic surgeon would she have. She had no doubt that it would be Mr Lusty. I am so glad I found Mr Lusty as he replaced both my hips using a spinal block, this worked incredibly well and quicker recovery than general anaesthetic. I was eating lunch as soon as back from theatre and was up and walking down the corridor within 3 hours of op (with help of physiotherapist) and home after 24 hours.! Amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of this very talented surgeon. He gave me all the information that I needed with regards to the operation, and aftercare, and made the whole process clear and easy to understand. It is quite clear that Mr Lusty is fully involved in every step of the process and this, together with his great personality and enthusiasm, really helps to remove any stress.

Mr Lusty performed a total replacement of my left knee in September. I went to him on recommendation and I can honestly say that at no time has he disappointed. He kept me fully informed at every stage and answered all of my questions. He was straightforward and totally honest as to what I could expect at every stage of my recovery. I really like his approach and have total trust in his ability. Eight weeks on, I have no regrets about having the surgery and have worked hard to make sure that I have taken full advantage of his skilled work. I would have no hesitation in recommending him; in fact I have already.

Mr Lusty first performed a meniscus trim on my right knee 12 weeks ago , yesterday I had the second part of my surgery which was a full ACL reconstruction with hamstring graft . Patrick is a very straight talking doctor who is incredibly professional , I liked his approach and bed side manner a lot and he made me feel at ease . My only criticism is that out of the two surgeries I have had with mr Lusty after each one I have failed to be seen by him or a doctor afterwards to tell me how the procedure went , as a very nervous patient I would have appreciated some feedback on how the operation went and what to expect next as the nursing staff at Southend we’re not fully informed on these details. Overall I’m happy that my knee has now been treated and hope to see Mr Lusty in Clinic soon .

On the 16th May 2018 Mr. Lusty carried out a total hip replacement at the Spire Wellesley Hospital. During the initial consultation he had clearly explained all aspects of the procedure and in a very professional manner answered my questions. I was confident that I was dealing with a very competent, caring surgeon and so it proved to be. My operation was carried out successfully and the care I received from Mr. Lusty and his team could not have been bettered.

mr lusty performed a complete knee replacement on me nearly six weeks ago at the spire Wellesley hospital southend-on-sea NHS not private. I could not have received better treatment or care right from the reception up to all the nursing staff. when you are in his clinic Mr lusty feels you with confidence and shows you much consideration and respect,which flows through his whole team. A big thankyou to Steve Oakley the physio who worked wonders on my knee after the operation.

Mr Lusty was my Knee Replacement surgeon. He was straight talking, exactly what I like. I was operated on the 23rd April 2018 and yesterday 11th June I was signed off. I would say I trust him 100% and would recommend him to anybody. It is up to me now to follow all instructions given by Mr Lusty to improve my knee the best I can, he did say if any complications arise or I am worried in any way to contact him, which of coarse I would. I would also like to add that all the staff at Spire Wellesley that looked after me after my operation were excellent, I cannot see how they can be improved on. Kevin Terry

Mr Lusty was recommended by a friend who had hip replacement surgery carried out by him. Everything concerning the operation was fully explain and treatment and outcome after the operation was excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to any of my acquaintances if they require surgery.

Mr Lusty is a straight forward , says it how it is consultant. He was very understanding that I taught tap dancing, and encouraged me to continue with something that was very important to me . To this end he did his very best to keep my knee mobile until knee replacement was my only option. Although my operation was only 9 weeks ago my knee is improving each day and the pain is lessening daily . Through the whole process,it was always my decision on the next step .

I first saw Mr. Lusty in October 2016 with a very arthritic left hip. He went through with me all the options that were available and it was agreed between us to schedule hip replacement surgery which was undertaken in March 2017. I have nothing but praise for Mr. Lusty, he is a caring, compassionate, strait talking individual who took time to explain, in as much detail as I wanted, the procedure, the recovery & recuperation timescales, do & don’ts etc and he filled me with complete confidence that he was the right surgeon for me. The aftercare after surgery was also second to none and he and his nursing staff could not have been better. Obviously nobody wants to go through surgery but he made the process as smooth and bearable as anyone possible could. I thank him and his staff for their professionalism and understanding with particular thanks to Mr. Lusty himself. The surgery changed my life (& my wife’s) we can now walk for miles without any pain rather than hobble for a very very painful few yards!

My first appointment with Mr Patrick Lusty was back in may 2017. At 57 years of age I was struggling to walk with a fast deteriorating left hip. He was very sympathetic and understood completely how, although young to have a hip replacement , I just wanted to be mobile again and get back to getting on with my life . Mr Lusty was honest. straight to the point but at the same time diplomatic , compassionate and kind. I had the operation at the Spire Wellesley Hospital in the December and I have nothing but praise for every Nurse , Doctor and all who assisted in my care . My operation has been a great success. I haven't walked this well for a couple of years . I have recovered much quicker than I thought I would . Everybody is amazed that I have done so well , however I do believe it was just the fact that I had an incredible surgeon , great care and after-care with all follow up appointments. Mr Lusty is very easy to talk to, he has a very pleasant and understanding personality. I can not fault the care that I have received from him. Mr Lusty was prepared to look at my situation, and identify remedial action that wouId enable me to get back to a semblance of normal activity. I have found Mr Lusty to be very understanding, and helpful in suggesting additional treatments to aid my recovery from an initial knee replacement that had to be corrected. He is very 'straight talking' with his diagnosis, and clear with the treatment that is required. He also expects the patient to help themselves (where possible) by undertaking all the necessary rehabillitation exercises/activity to ensure the best outcome following the surgery. I can only sing the praises of Mr Lusty, and would have no hesitation in recommending him to others.

Mr Lusty did my hip replacement on 20th October 2016 at the Spire Wellesley Hospital. For the first time in years I am now Painfree, I can not thank him enough for giving me my life back again. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Lusty for great care. Mr Lusty was easy to talk to explained the problem and the resolution. I had a full knee replacement and could not be happier with the result. I walked out of hospital after four days able to manage stairs which I had not been able to do for two years. The scar healed perfectly and on my first visit to the physiotherapist I was advised that my recovery was ahead of schedule. I can not thank Mr Lusty enough and am now looking forward to having my other knee done.

I recently attended the spire Wellesley on 18/5/2016 for ACL knee reconstruction, carried out by Mr Patrick Lusty. From my first visit with Mr Lusty, I felt that I was in safe hands he knew straight away that I had snapped my ACL which was confirmed by an Mri scan. I was scared to death at the thought of what was involved, but on my second meeting with Patrick he totally made me feel at ease, and fully explained exactly what he was going to do,and what I was to expect after the operation. I stayed in for 1 night then left the next day. Everything went the way he said it would,I was cared for throughout the night by nurses that were also great.from that I have returned weekly to attend Physio sessions with Steve Oakley another member of Mr Lusty fantastic team.all in all I have made excellent progress in the short time since my operation, I have full movement in my knee and it feels better every day with no pain.so from my experience I would fully recommend Mr Patrick Lusty and his team at the spire Wellesley to anyone facing the same situation I was in. I would like to thank him for his care and attention to detail.

I received a total hip replacement from Mr. Lusty. His approach and willingness to give clear detailed explanations was confidence inspiring to me. The organisation, execution and level of care were pretty much faultless. My 'in theatre' experience, I opted for the Spinal Anaesthetic, was of an exceptionally high standard-almost enjoyable! My post operative care was also extremely good. Mr. Lusty visited me daily, sometimes more than once in a day, to check on my progress, this was very reassuring and now that I have been fully restored to normal my life has become enjoyable again. I have a very neat, somewhat smaller than expected, scar as a permanent reminder of a life enhancing event for which I am very thankful.

I have just had a total hip replacement at the tender age of 49 & was fortunate enough to be referred to Mr. Lusty. He understood my fear & really listened to me as an individual, fully understanding my concerns. I built total trust & faith in his advice & can't recommend him enough to others. I have now (8 weeks on) fully recovered from my op. with no issues at all. Mr. Lusty has given me my life back!!!
