Dr Prajakta Patil is a renowned consultant psychiatrist in London, with over 20 years’ experience. Her extensive knowledge and experience cover a wide range of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorder, psychosis, adult ADHD, and autism. Dr Patil completed her higher specialist training in Forensic Psychiatry at South West London and St George`s NHS Trust, where she worked as a substantive Consultant, before moving to Kent and Medway NHS Partnership Trust. She has previously trained in Child and Adolescent psychiatry as a higher specialist trainee giving her an in-depth understanding of developmental aspects when assessing adults and has completed her core training in various subspecialities of psychiatry from the reputed St Marys` Training Scheme, London and Northern Deanery.
Over the years Dr Patil has actively engaged in patient and medical education, contributing to peer-reviewed journal publications and presentations at national and international conferences. In the past, she has worked as a research psychiatrist in a clinical trial involving ADHD treatment in prisons. She has also trained in a second opinion tertiary autism unit (Newcastle) in the past, spanning across childhood and adult age groups.
Alongside her private practice, she works partly in the NHS, as a senior educational supervisor, clinical lecturer, simulation and quality Improvement Lead for medical students, and the Judiciary. She was previously a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Neurodevelopmental Special Interest Group Executive Committee and currently is a Deputy Regional Advisor for the South Eastern Division of the Royal College. She is also a peer reviewer for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and an Examiner for Postgraduate Membership exams (CASC) at the Royal College. She has been appointed as a Medical Expert by the General Medical Council. She is a Bond Solon certified expert witness (civil).
