Mr Sherif Khalil is a consultant ear, nose, throat (ENT) and skull base surgeon based in London, specialising in hearing loss, middle ear surgery and skull base surgery. He is highly experienced in advanced procedures such as cochlear implants, middle ear implants and tympanometry. Mr Khalil practises privately at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and Portland Place Outpatient Centre, alongside his NHS role at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), where he is Clinical Lead for the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH)/UCL Auditory Implants Programme.
After graduating from Alexandria University in 1993, Mr Khalil completed extensive higher surgical training in the North Thames region of London, specialising in otology (hearing and balance disorders), cochlear implantation, and skull base surgery. His training included time at leading institutions such as Charing Cross Hospital, the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square), and Northwick Park Hospital. He holds multiple advanced qualifications, including an MD and FRCS (ORL-HNS).
Mr Khalil has particular expertise in cochlear implant surgery for both adults and children and holds a doctorate degree in this field. His clinical practice encompasses the management of middle ear conditions, such as hearing restoration (ossiculoplasty and stapedectomy) and chronic middle ear infections (tympanoplasty and mastoid surgery). As a core member of the skull base multi-disciplinary team at Queen Square, he also specialises in managing vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas) and tumours of the ear and lateral skull base.
Mr Khalil’s commitment to patient care is matched by his dedication to education and research in the field of auditory and skull base disorders. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
