Mr Stefanos Almpanis is a consultant urologist based in London. He is an expert in stones, with extensive experience performing complex endoscopic stone surgeries, shock wave lithotripsy and conservative management of urinary stones. He also treats a wide range of urological conditions. These include haematuria, bladder tumours, including endoscopic management of UTUC (upper tract urothelial cancer), benign prostatic and urethral issues, bladder infections, chronic prostatitis, and various types of pelvic, bladder, prostate, and testicular pain. He privately practises at The Lister Hospital, The Prostate Centre at Devonshire Street, The Harley Street Clinic and The Princess Grace Hospital.
After graduating in medicine in 1994, Mr Almpanis completed his urological training at a European Urological Association-accredited tertiary centre of excellence. He achieved honours in the National Board exams for Urological Specialty Accreditation (CCST Urol-FHUA) and the European Urological Association exams, earning Fellowship of the European Urological Association (FEBU) in 2002. In 2003, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on bladder cancer.
He further honed his expertise at The Bart's & The London NHS Trust. In 2005, he completed an Endourology Fellowship at Bart's & The London NHS Trust.
From 2008 to 2010, Mr Almpanis served as a senior lecturer in urology at The National University of Athens Medical School, demonstrating his strong academic background. He has co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers, presented at more than 100 international conferences, and contributed to international training courses in stone surgery. He also serves as a tutor for specialist nurses, mentors trainee doctors, and is a reviewer for the Journal of Endourology.
