Dr Ahsan combines the highest degree of medical skills with an unceasing kindness to anxious patients. When I had sudden alarming spike in blood pressure involving three visits to A&E within two weeks I was very concerned about my general health and side effects of the medication. Dr Ahsan throughly checked every test I had undergone and was able to find the cause, reassured me and adjusted the medication. We are so happy to have found Dr Ahsan and most grateful for his help with the exceptionally warm care an elderly patient needs. Thank you Dr Ahsan. Daisy Abey

If I could give doctor Ashan a higher than 5 star review I would. At only 20 years old to have a problem with your heart is rather scary but from my first consultation with him I felt absolutely totally at ease and trusted him 100%. Everything was always fully explained and was told if I had any further questions to contact him. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Ahsan attended me in October last, for a small heart problem. He was absolutely marvellous, attentive, good listener and kind beyond words. Would recommend this gentleman to anyone without hesitation. Best Dr. I have been to. Janet Turner, Brookmans Park.

I write on behalf of my mother, who was very kindly referred by her cardiology consultant at UCLH to be seen by Dr Ahsan in the Department of Arrhthymia Services last November, 2017. I apologise profusely for the delay in submitting this feedback following the first consultation with Dr Ahsan on 9 November 2017, which I attended along with my mother. We were extremely impressed by, and grateful for, all aspects of the treatment and care received from Dr Ahsan. He had clearly fully digested all the earlier correspondence, ECGs etc arising out of my mother's care at UCLH. He questioned her closely on all her recent symptoms and episodes. He outlined most clearly and helpfully a range of possible hypotheses for her condition, and then put forward a series of possible diagnostic/treatment options, together with ramifications and possible theoretical risks. He listened carefully to our concerns and offered reassuring advice as to his current view and as to the way forward. He offered useful comment about my mother's current medication regime, and useful lifestyle recommendations. He kindly referred her for the fitting of an implantable loop recorder to monitor her symptoms, and he arranged for this to be carried out most promptly, in December 2017. During the November consultation, Dr Ahsan answered all our questions most fully and helpfully. He was extremely kind, sensitive and respectful in his manner towards us. He wrote an extremely detailed, helpful and reassuring follow-up letter. We are very much looking forward to my mother's follow-up consultation with him tomorrow.

Dr Ahsan was everything an anxious patient would want in their doctor - kind, patient, understanding and reassuring. I was so taken aback when he called me a week after our first appointment to see how I was getting on, I don't think many doctors would take the time to do that. Both he and his secretary Helen helped me over Christmas when I started suffering side effects from my medication, and within a few hours I had a call from Dr Ahsan and a new prescription. I'm so grateful for their help, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent cardiologist. Thank you, Dr Ahsan.

After suffering from a heart condition for a number of years I was very happy to meet Dr Ahsan, from the first consultation where he believed there was a solution I have now completed the surgery and had my final consultation with him today. The surgery has been a success and everything Dr Ahsan said would happen from start to finish went just as he said it would. I cannot thank Dr Ahsan and the NHS enough. It is truly remarkable what doctors can do these days and we are all incredibly lucky to have such a service caring for us.

I am very grateful to have Dr Syed Ahsan as my consultant. Dr Ahsan always greets you warmly on each visit despite his busy workload. Dr Ahsan explains everything clearly and helps you to understand even the most complex medical terms. He puts you totally at ease. I totally trust him and respect his advice. He always listens and when I have had any concerns or worries about an operation his explanations reassure. He is also firm in offering advice on changing lifestyle and motivates you to help yourself in your path to recovery. I feel very fortunate to have Dr Ahsan treating me and would have no hesitation recommending to other patients. Anthony Bartram

Im 43, mum of two. I work full time. I was suffering a heart arrhythmia. I had this condition for many years, visited few doctors, was given some medication but my condition never improved. On few occasions I had to be taken by ambulance to hospital. My life was very difficult. I felt always tired, couldn't sleep properly, couldn't enjoy my family time. Then in January 2016 I went to see Dr Syed Ahsan for consultation. After having, all the tests done, Dr Syed suggested ablation as the best option for my condition. Unlike other doctors he explained to me everything in regards to the procedure, answered all my questions. I remember, it was very difficult for me to make the decision about the procedure. I was scared, had a lot of doubts. However Dr Syed was always there for me, had always time to listen and answer my questions, quickly responded to my emails. He gave me always a lot of confidents and professional support. I can say now that having the ablation done with Dr Syed was the best decision in my life. Now a year on since I have my procedure and I feel great. I can fully enjoy my life with my family. My heart is so quiet, calm, normal and happy. Im happy. Dr Syed, thank you. I will recommend to everyone who feels like I felt to see Dr Syed. Kind regards Dorota Rejniak-Warnawska

I arrived at the North Mid today to receive my son's results from an MRI scan that was previously taken at St Barts. I am sure that my shoulders were up by my ears through sheer terror of what we might be told. Consultant Ahsan greeted us as old friends even though we had never met before. He went out of his way to explain everything in detail.Eye contact was made which made us feel that we mattered and were not just another NHS number. Relevant questions were asked with ample time given for discussion. By the time my son's consultation was over, my shoulders were not up by my ears! Thank you Consultant Ahsan for your care and attention and for explaining the situation clearly enough for me to relay it to family members who were eagerly waiting. Once again, thank you. Regards Sharon Williams.

I have been seeing Dr Ahsan for the past 18 months off and on. From my first consultation he was endlessly patient, caring and obviously 100% detirmined to help. His knowledge and experience coupled with his calm manner puts the patient at ease from the start. His very friendly and efficient secretary Helen also ensures that the service and treatment he provides is exceptional at all points of the process.

My daughter and I arrived at Bart's for her 10.15 appointment on Thursday 5th January 2017 only to find that her appointment had been cancelled, as she had had an extra appointment back in September 2016, so there was confusion over the 6 month follow up appointment. The reception staff were very helpful and said to us that they would see if Dr Ahsan could fit her in. He kindly said that he would and she only had to wait for 30 minutes to be seen. Dr Ahsan is a caring man and listens very carefully to what my daughter and I have to say and acts upon our comments accordingly. He reassures the pair of us and my daughter feels very comfortable talking to him. His secretary is also very efficient and so helpful. On the few occasions that I have emailed her, she has dealt with our request very promptly. They are a great team and nothing is too much trouble for either of them!

Dr Ahsan is a cardiologist recommended to us because he worked south of the Thames as well as in the north, and I can't think that there is a better doctor. From the very beginning, he showed great interest in my wife's problems, spent much time in his diagnosis, and then took great care to ensure not only my wife but all my family knew exactly what the problem was. He filled us all with great confidence and his dedication to her and to ensure that we all not only understood the problems but were ourselves coping with the strain of them. His patience and dedication were unbelievable and in my experience, despite being very busy, his patience with all of us could not have been exceeded. His operation passed smoothly and had the desired effect and I have no doubt has prolonged my wife's life. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anybody needing a cardiologist. A very fine, caring and skilled man

Mr Ahsan has been my conultant for three years. I have always found him to be kind, compassionate and patient. He was particularly patient (as was the whole yeam) when Ichanged my mind about my procedure at the eleventh hour. In each consultation I have never felt rushed. He explains things carefully and, if required, in detail. He is accessible and has always listened to me and answered all of my questions.

Dr Ahsan is an excellent Consultant Cardiologist, with an up-to-date knowledge of the latest available medical procedures and treatments. He is approachable, friendly and truly caring. I have received the best possible care from Dr Ahsan over the past 18 months, and I feel safe and reassured to have the treatment of my heart condition under his management.

I cannot recommend this doctor highly enough. When I first saw him in late June 2016 he listened to me attentively and asked many questions about my symptoms. He recommended a revised tablet regime which helped me tremendously in the interim leading up to my cryo-ablation. He kept me informed of all of the next steps and I cannot fault the care that I received both from him, his team and all of the cardio staff when I had my operation in February 2016. The operation was a complete success and I have suffered no ill effects since then. I have seen him twice since the operation on follow-ups and am expecting to see him again in 6 months time when I expect that he will sign me off. He has kept my GP fully informed of each step taken.

Dr. Syed Ahsan looked after me in 2015/early 2016 when I was diagnosed with atrial flutter. He had a very calming influence, explained everything in great detail, was always happy to answer questions, both in person and by e-mail and has an extremely pleasant, caring attitude. He carried out a cardiac ablation at The Wellington in August 2015 and this procedure was completely successful. I cannot recommend him more highly and, in fact, have recently suggested a friend saw him and she, too, was completely happy with his care. My husband likes to accompany me to appointments and, like me, he was also impressed by Dr. Ahsan' friendly approach, particularly as at that time a close friend was dying and he always remembered to ask how things were. This may sound like a small thing but it all makes a difference when you have health concernsyourself. To sum up I cannot recommend Dr. Syed Ahsan more highly than I have tried to convey.

I was recommended to Dr Syed Ahsan for a ventricular arrhythmia. During my care Dr Ahsan provided advice and explained the implications of the diagnosis with a calm and re-assuring manner. After diagnosis my treatment required a catheter ablation which was undertaken by Dr Ahsan under a local anaesthetic. During this 3 hour procedure (which incidentally was quite fascinating!) his calm manner remained re-assuring throughout, taking time to answer any questions I had. Although I will likely require a further round of ablation (it was explained to me that it may take up to 3 goes) I have no anxiety regarding the follow-up procedures. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Dr Ahsan to anyone needing the advice of an Electrophysiologist.

I saw Dr Ahsan at St Anthony's Hospital following a referral from my GP as I had an irregular heart beat and associated problems. Dr Ahsan listened carefully to all I said and explained in detail what he thought the problem was and his proposed plan of action. He was prepared to spend as long as I needed to understand what he was saying. After various tests he decided I needed surgery and very quickly arranged for me to se a colleague of his , An excellent Surgeon, who very soon carried out a double Heart bypass , from which I quickly recovered. I am currently seeing Dr Ahsan for follow up treatment and couldn't be happier with the care I have received .

An excellent doctor with a very good bedside manner who explains things clearly and answers any questions without appearing superior to the patient. When I have outpatient appointments I always see Dr Ahsan, not anyone else in his team. He always dictates the outpatient letter at the end of the consultation which helps to confirm what has been said. He does not spend time during the consultation looking at the computer screen. This has happened with some other doctors and seems rude to me. Dr Ahsan gives the best possible care so there are no suggestions for improvement. Keep doing the same and thank you for his care.

Dr Ahsan has a distinctive and rare combination of qualities. He is highly skilled technically and is a talented cardiologist working at the cutting edge of his specialty. He demonstrates an astute attentiveness and has a gentle manner. He is very perceptive, calm and considerate. He conveys a quiet confidence in that he is both open minded but clear minded. He is approachable, available when needed, and responsive to emails/calls. He explains the rationale for his decisions in a way that is easily accessible; nothing seems too much for him. He gives the feeling that he has the time to consider all the relevant issues. For these reasons, I trust his judgement implicitly and would unreservedly recommend him to colleagues or friends. As a health professional myself, I have assessed many people and trained many doctors. In my opinion, he is an exceptional clinician and his practice is extraordinary . As far as I am concerned, he has managed my situation impeccably and I cannot fault it. What is just so impressive is his sound, supportive and appropriately optimistic management when things are perhaps not going as well as one might like. This is extremely reassuring as he appreciates the necessity of integrating the psychological aspects of care with the physical problems. He treats members of his team with respect and is remarkably unassuming. To summarize, I would describe Dr Ahsan as an outstanding clinician who has helped to restore my confidence and transformed how I was feeling in many respects. This has re-affirmed my belief in the potential of medicine, in the power of the right word at the right time, and in the value of kindness.

I have had heart problems since the age of 16 (I am now 28) since then, I have seen numerous cardiologist, from all around the country. Dr Ahsan, has by far, been the best cardiologist I have seen. For many reasons: 1) He really listens 2) He genuinely cares - not only about the problem you have gone to see him about, but about your health in general. 3) He works magic! I have reflex anoxic seizures when I have my blood taken, and therefore, have avoided having my blood taken for years. I have for a long time said that I think gas and air would allow me to have my blood taken without a seizure, to which every other doctor/nurse/cardiologist has said this is not possible. Dr Ahsan, however, used all his networks to find somewhere that would do this for me. 4) He gives you the best care: I am used to having heart monitors attached that have cables all over the place, and are very uncomfortable. However, Dr Ahsan immediately gave me a 14 day heart monitor which was just a small waterproof sticker! He also asked for all my previous tests and correspondence to review - all very thorough. 5) He is very amicable: I think that often, doctors can be so wrapped up in science, they forget how to communicate properly and be personable. This is where I found Dr Ahsan to be particularly unique - he has great communication skills, yet still has all the medical knowledge. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Dr Ahsan. My mother (who is a nurse) would also highly recommend him - which is a massive compliment coming from her! I'm afraid I don't have any comments to improve his care, in my opinion, my experience with Dr Ahsan was flawless.
