Mr Ahmad Muneer Otri is an exceptionally skilled consultant ophthalmologist with practice in Coventry, Northampton, Leamington Spa who specialises in the treatment of cataracts, anterior segment, glaucoma, and glaucoma ocular surface disease. He has over 20 years’ experience in the field of ophthalmology, having performed over 1,500 cataract procedures to date.
Mr Otri, who consults privately at The Meriden Hospital, Eyesite Eyecare Centres, and Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital, originally qualified from the University of Aleppo. He undertook his core ophthalmology training at Damascus University Hospital before relocating to the UK in 2007 to complete a PhD and a clinical research fellowship in complex cornea and anterior segment. Mr Otri went on to accomplish a further honorary fellowship in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at Birmingham Eye Centre, and a highly sought-after glaucoma fellowship training at Queen’s Medical Centre as well.
As a specialist, Mr Otri has particular proficiency in the latest cataract and glaucoma treatments, performing routine and complex cataract surgery and laser treatment for glaucoma including cyclodiode laser, trabeculectomy surgery, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery such as iStent and PRESERFLO. Within his NHS consultant role at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, Mr Otri is also the lead of a tertiary centre of excellence in the treatment of complex glaucoma with aqueous-shunt surgery.
Mr Otri endeavours to provide the highest quality ophthalmic care, tailoring treatment to the individual needs of his patients. He is a fellow of both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow, and is also an avid researcher. He has authored more than 27 medical research publications in high-profile peer-reviewed journals.
