Mr Simon Harrison is a highly specialised consultant orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in treating adult hand and wrist conditions, based in Edinburgh. In his surgical practice, he focuses on diagnosing and managing various disorders, including carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, Dupuytren’s disease, trigger digits, and arthritis affecting the hand and wrist.
 
Mr Harrison’s journey into orthopaedics began with his medical degree from the University of Dundee. He then undertook surgical training in Yorkshire, earning a Fellowship (FRCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2017.
 
After completing his general orthopaedic training, he pursued two additional years of subspecialty training in hand and wrist surgery. This included time in Teesside, UK, and advanced training at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.
 
During his training, he worked under the mentorship of surgeons with expertise in both orthopaedic and plastic surgery, enabling him to acquire a diverse and comprehensive skill set.
 
Upon returning to the UK, Mr Harrison was appointed as a consultant at NHS Fife in 2019, where he continues to excel in the field of hand and wrist surgery.
 
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Harrison is deeply committed to the training and development of future orthopaedic surgeons. He serves as a clinical and educational supervisor for trainees and frequently shares his expertise by teaching on courses related to hand and wrist conditions.
